Cara, Lucy, May, Louisa, Marie.

I'm stuck between these names.
Can you can tell me which you'd prefer to be called?

We just named our DD Lara - toyed between that and Kara or Clara and thought Lara was more elegant

Cara is head and shoulders above the rest.

Only qualm with Cara is that's it's the exact word for “face” in Spanish and Spanish is a global language spoken by more people than English, something to consider. Cara significa cara en español.

Cara also the word for friend in Irish.

I doubt anyone in the UK (if@GlitterySlug95 is in the UK) will confuse their DD's name with either word.

I like May and Lucy. Think I prefer Maria to Marie. Not as keen on Cara as the rest of PPs tbh, it sounds a bit clacky in my mouth 😂

I love Louisa, you don't hear it very often. Not keen on the others.

Love Lucy, such a beautiful name. Really like Louisa and Marie too and I'd love to be called all 3 of them if I could.

Cara is just alright, gets merged in it a bit. And May is only nice for a middle name, I'd never want to be called it because it seems a bit unfinished. I can't imagine being called May tbh, it's just too short. Maybe as a nickname for Mabel which I love.

May - love it's sweet simplicity and don't know why it's so unpopular as a first name. when it's overused as a middle.

But I adore cool Eve as well - it's a shame to be put off by Eva/Evie's popularity when Eve is more timeless/classic style.

3rd choice Cara. And no I don't think Lara/Zara/Cora/Clara etc is a problem - if you go down that rabbit hole then what about Lily/Tilly/Milly, Mia/Mila/Maya, Lila/Lyra/Layla, Ella/Ellie/Elsie etc. At least half of the girls names in the top 100 have something very similar that's also popular - so personally I wouldn't let that influence me too much, as less people are using the most popular names now you'd be unlucky to get a Zara or Clara etc in the class too.

I have a Cara, she likes her name. It has received lots of compliments.

Second choice would be Louisa.

I'm not keen on the others.
