I loved Roman but it didn’t go with our surname (also ends in an).

I did put it on a post here and a mumsnetter said she was using it for her baby so that’s lovely.

This was also the name I picked out and when he was born he just didn't look like a Roman 😭

I have two teenage DS but they would've both been Violet had they been girls. Would still pick it now.

Ruaridh
River

for my son.

Now also really wish I’d included my Dad’s name and husband’s name as middle names.

Rufus! Loved it. Still love it.

But when DS was a tiny newborn and DH leaned over his cot in the hospital and said, “Baby Rufus. Hello Roo,” I didn’t like the nickname Roo at all, and it made me like the name Rufus less! So we went with something else.

Get a dog - I know a big labardoodle called Rufus - ruf bit makes it a fab dogs name.

Jack. Always Jack. But had 3 daughters so no Jack.
It’s funny but I’ve totally moved on from Jack. It’s far to late for me to have and more children but now my absolute favourite boy name that will never be used is Maximilian.

Sugarfree23 · 24/03/2023 00:13

Reuben was my number 1 but DH wouldn’t let me 🙄
Roman and Freddie I really liked but just couldn’t commit to using. Glad I went with my little boy’s name instead

Nalupa · 24/03/2023 13:20

Isidore
Nikolai

CornflakesOnTheSolesOfHerShoes · 24/03/2023 13:45

Gabriel, Daniel, Isaac, Reuben, Jacob, Bartholomew

Variously vetoed by DH, already in use by friends/family, baggsied by my sister (who then didn’t use it) or we chickened out (that was Bartholomew).

We went with an alternative Old Testament option!

PracticallyFlooredZero · 24/03/2023 13:51

Felix. Loved and still love this. DH insists it’s a cat’s name 😡

Also loved but didn’t use Theo, Zachary and Leo.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 24/03/2023 15:27

Magnus.
We are not Scottish or Icelandic.

stormelf · 24/03/2023 16:47

Tyr - worried about pronounciation issues
Leofric - same as above
Leif - would've been third child's name if a boy
