Husband won't talk about baby names

Just looking for some other perspectives on my situation. I'm 9 months pregnant, married, we've got a toddler already. DH is a brilliant Dad to our toddler, though we found the baby days quite difficult (baby cried a lot). Although baby number 2 is nearly here, DH refuses to talk about baby names, ignores the fact that I'm pregnant and isn't really thinking about anything baby related. I think he's scared and in denial it's happening. What would you do?

Depends what you mean when you say he refuses to talk about names - how does the conversation actually go? Have you told him that you're concerned that he's burying his head in the sand?

Just make a list of the only baby names that you like.
Remember the ones you talked about last time and add those if you still like them.
Thus, you have a head start for when it's time to name the baby.
You must have discussed the names last baby so second name or family names that either of you liked would be known to you.
You might end up with only a few names but the ones that you love. Hubby might like to discuss a smaller list.

Then I guess you get to pick a name.

Was the baby planned?

I'd talk to him about your concerns. Ask him if he's ok.

I’d just pull him up and ask why he’s being avoidant and explain it’s upsetting you.

So sorry to hear this is happening. I am also expecting DC2 and our chat about the pregnancy is so limited. Do you think it’s just exhaustion from life with a toddler + work + domestic tasks? My DH seems to shrug saying what’s there to talk about, we know what’s coming.

This weekend we were chatting about Christmas travel and I said “well I’ll take Tom in business class, you take DC1 in economy” (work pays for my flight). DH was immediately like “WHO IS TOM?!” I told him that’s our second child. He started laughing saying “ok we really need to think of some names”.

Can you be lighthearted about this or is there something more serious going on? Tell us all here the names you like and we can help you

I’d be rubbing my hands with glee that I get to pick the name. He’ll soon realise it’s happening when the baby bomb lands
