Hi everyone. We both really love Theodora for our daughter who is due next month. What do you think when you hear this name?

I think it's pretty. I know a Theodora nicknamed Thea.

Potatomashed · 19/03/2023 15:47

I love this name!

I'm in my 40s and I think of the ITV show, Wizadora.
Obviously this wouldn't be the association for people who are younger or the child's peers.

FlutterbButterfly · 19/03/2023 16:23

It's lovely OP, a known name but not used too often. I'm a teacher and I've come across maybe 4 or 5- one was called Teddy, another Tiggy and there was also a Dora.

I'm quite a fan of 'dora names, I also like;

Isadora
Pandora

It’s nice enough, but this group of names - Theo /Theodore / Thea /Theodora - is mega popular so she will be one of many

Exactly this for me. As soon as I read the title, the theme song went around my head.

Thea is pretty though.

It's a beautiful name, I love it

I’m early 30s and immediately thought the same. Was on tv when I was a kid.

atthebottomofthehill · 19/03/2023 20:29

... we adore her!

I like it though.

Choconut · 19/03/2023 20:33

It just makes me think dopey dora, I don't like it at all. I love Thea though.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 20/03/2023 20:09

I think of Wizadora too 🤣

ourflagmeansdeath · 20/03/2023 20:16

I like Theodora, it's pretty to me so go for it if you like it. She may get misread for Theodore a lot though and then thought of as a boy but it's still a beautiful name. I also like Dorothea!

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 20/03/2023 20:39

I know one, usually called Dora. She is a delightful child.

peaceinourtime · 22/03/2023 00:31

It's nice, a nickname could also be Theo.

CC4712 · 22/03/2023 00:38

Any 4 syllable name is a mouthful! I'm personally not keen on the 'need' to have a nn because the given name is SO long. I sound awful, but also not keen on most female versions of traditionally male names eg Theo.

If you love it, use it. I personally don't like it though, as sounds like a male name, trying to be used for a girl by adding Dora the explorer!

VenusClapTrap · 22/03/2023 06:47

Bit too long and fussy for me. I like Thea though.

HalleLouja · 22/03/2023 07:07

My grandma was a Theodora. Everyone knew her by Lola…. No idea why. Prefer Thea but that is the Greek word for Aunt.

fruitandfibreg · 22/03/2023 18:48

I love it

Mummytobe333 · 23/03/2023 12:07

Love it 💓 our girl is called Thea and everyone comments how pretty it is.
