In my head the name Hazel is a girl who has brown / darker hair . It's a lovely name.

purpledalmation · 15/03/2023 09:12

Sweet.

Very nice. I can't really think of any nn I think I would just call her Hazel. My sons nn has ended up being something not related to his name at all.

I like Hazel, but I like other names more. It seems like this name was in a few years ago.

My favorite nickname for Hazel are Hazy and Hazelette, or Halette.

SummaLuvin · 15/03/2023 11:17

I'm not fond of it, but maybe that's because I don't like the way it sounds in my accent.

Regarding nicknames I don't think it's a name that really invites them. I guess there is Haze, but similar to Carol and Caz, it feels like a nickname reserved for someone who is vey close rather than to be used more widely like you would with Nicky for Nicola.

Timetochangetheoil · 15/03/2023 11:19

It’s Watership Down for me but I imagine I’m in the minority!

Springconcerts · 15/03/2023 11:22

Azeull in the accent where I’m from. It should be a pretty name but my town managed to make it so, so ugly …

Zaliea · 15/03/2023 11:27

Hazel is a favourite of mine.

I quite like Zel/Zelle as a nn

Me too but that doesn't mean I don't like it!

Twoinapod · 15/03/2023 11:30

I like it. I know of one in her early 20s, never had a nn, just goes by hazel, I don’t think it really has one

Viviennemary · 15/03/2023 11:31

Its a nice name I think. No nicknames needed.

MyMumsOnMN · 15/03/2023 11:31

Please use the nickname Hazelnut.

AliceTheeCamel · 15/03/2023 11:33

I don't think it easily lends itself to being shortened. Tbh I'm not a fan, but I can't really put my finger on why. Just personal preference I guess.

Pammy39 · 15/03/2023 11:34

It is lovely name:-)

Westfacing · 15/03/2023 11:35

I know a Turkish 20-something called Hazel.

TurnLeftAtTheBakery · 15/03/2023 11:40

I quite like it. It think it'd one of those names where most will just be called Hazel. You could say Haze but I imagine most don't.

MissingMoominMamma · 15/03/2023 11:43

I’m coloured by the fact that I had a manager called Hazel who was horrible.

But it’s nice. NN- Nutty.

LookingOldTheseDays · 15/03/2023 11:44

It's a lovely name. The hazels that I know don't use nicknames, so no need for one.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/03/2023 12:01

My colleague has a Clara Hazel which I really like.

Reggiebo · 15/03/2023 12:05

Hi Hazel here....my nicknames hazelnut or hazy

MyOtherUsernameIsDave · 15/03/2023 12:15

Really dislike it. Feels very dated, very 80s but not in a good way.

PuppyMonkey · 15/03/2023 12:21

Hmm I realise it’s a name that’s probably having a renaissance but for me it’s a naff dated name - where I live usually pronounced with a missing H.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 15/03/2023 12:25

Not fond of it but only because I think there's hundreds of more beautiful girls names to choose from.

urrrgh46 · 15/03/2023 13:42

lovely name 😃
