Just wondering what you all thought of Amelia Rose (millie) or Tabitha or Matilda (tilly). We like them all really. We want somthing classy and traditional.

I like all three, but my favourite is Tabitha.

Rolf · 12/02/2008 17:21

All lovely. So much so that I'm going to add them to the list of names I suggest to DH, that he rejects. He's telling everyone that the baby will be called Jethro or Jethrine (from The Beverly Hillbillies)

Artichokes · 12/02/2008 17:29

I like Matilda and Tabitha. Tabitha is gaining on Matilda in the popularity stakes around here. We know 3 Tabithas and no Matildas on our toddler circuit!

Don't like hyphenated names (too 80s) but Amelia and Rose are each pretty on their own.

ps: used to like Amelia but has now been wiped out by a friend who calls his dd Mealy for short which makes me thing of "mealy mouthed".

I like Masie and Milly but friends had cats of those names.

Love Tilda or Matty. Like Jemima too but I'm off on a tangent now!

CurleyShirley · 12/02/2008 18:57

Paddlechick - same! BEfore we had DD we chose Tabitha on the basis we would probably use Tabby. Had discussed it with friends before and when she arrived they called her Tabby and it felt so weird, like thats not her name at all!! Although we call her Tabs, I generally call her Tabitha and always refer to/talk about her as Tabitha. Though that may change as she gets older - think it likely her friends will call her Tabby, and maybe we will then.

sorry for hijack!!

dinny · 12/02/2008 20:07

yes, PC and Curly! Same here - thought we would call dd Tabby when decided on the name but never did (or do) - it's only now she has started school EVERYONE calls her Tabi (and she writes it Tabi herself) we called her Tabitha Twitchitt as a baby but now often call her a different unrelated nickname!

worried it is getting popular now!

see my profile for the scrummy Twitchitt!

CurleyShirley · 12/02/2008 20:22

yes am fully expecting that when my Tabitha gets to school dinny! What a sweetie your Tabi looks!!!

LaDiDaDi · 12/02/2008 20:24

IMHO Amelia-Rose is a doll like name, Tabitha is a cat's name and I love Matilda!

PuppyMonkey · 12/02/2008 20:27

I like all of them!

Tilly, aaawwwwww!

dinny · 12/02/2008 20:27

what is your Tabitha's middle name?

CurleyShirley · 12/02/2008 20:35

Mary (for family reasons!). What about yours?

dinny · 12/02/2008 20:38

Willow

was going to be Violet (family reasons) but Willow suddenly popped in my head when she ws born!

Crystaltipsandalaistar · 12/02/2008 20:42

Amelia Rose is lovely, but I too think her friends would drop the Rose at school...
Tabitha also makes me think of a cat. I like Matilda, it's a bit different. Does it go with your surname okay? From being little, my mum has called me Tilly Trotter because of my wild curly hair!

Paddlechick666 · 12/02/2008 20:43

oooh now that's spooky because 10 days before she was born i suddenly changed my mind to Willow!

changed back tho lol.

also got some pics on my profile, about 8 months ago now so she looks a bit different these days!

Willow is lovely! We liked that very much, but DH fancied the one from Buffy so I veto-ed that

PS For all of those who think of a cat when they hear Tabitha - my Tabitha has a friend called Felix!

Paddlechick666 · 12/02/2008 21:15

lol Curly, I have a friend called Felix!!!

MumtoCharlotteMay · 12/02/2008 21:24

Amelia Rose, extremely pretty

luvaduck · 12/02/2008 21:25

all lovely
matilda can also be shortened to matty

CaptainUnderpants · 12/02/2008 21:48

As a mother of two boys I envey being able to choose some pretty names for lttle girls, but remeber these ' pretty little girl' names stick with them through life and when they are sitting in a board room at 30 yrs old will they want to be called ' Daisy Rose ' .

Amelia is quite a poular name at the moment as well as Matilda . Tabitha , as someone else has said , reminds me of a cat .

dinny · 13/02/2008 11:04

Paddlechick, that is spooky! Your Tabitha is also v cute!

re Felix, I did toy with it for ds but think that'd be a bit much, having two such feline names.

Paddlechick666 · 13/02/2008 11:33

yeah i can see your point Diny.

i like jasper and oscar but was going to settle for oliver at the time. very popular now tho.

if i had another and it were a boy i would choose Edward now. highly unlikely to ever happen tho.

dinny · 13/02/2008 11:39

NO WAY, my ds is Edward!!!!! we call him Ned though! amazing! we obv have great taste!!!

bunny3 · 13/02/2008 11:45

I have a Tabitha, it's a beautiful name and we ahve nedless comments (positive) about it. Amelia is getting a bit common (I know 3 or 4 of them). Matilda is ok but Tabitha is the best!!!
