Just wondering what you all thought of Amelia Rose (millie) or Tabitha or Matilda (tilly). We like them all really. We want somthing classy and traditional.

Matilda and Amelia are quite popular where I am. Dont know any Tabitha's. Love all three names

Lomond · 11/02/2008 21:17

I like them all I'm not much help, sorry!

Debris · 12/02/2008 09:09

My daughter is called Tilly Amelia, I love it and have never had any regrets, havnt met another Tilly where we live, only an elderly lady! We sometimes call her Tilly-Milly.Hope the name doesnt get too popular!Good luck with choosing.

Blu · 12/02/2008 09:16

I love Tabitha, and 'Mattie' and 'Tilly' but Matilda less so.

Buda · 12/02/2008 09:18

Not too keen on Tabitha - love Amelia and Matilda/Tilly but they seem to be getting quite popular.

Like them all, but like Matilda (Tilly) best.

lollipopmother · 12/02/2008 11:56

Amelia-Rose is brilliant. I like Matilda but it looks like there'll be about 8 per class at this rate, it's a very popular name. I would go wtih Amelia-Rose, it think it's a lovely name.

Twinkie1 · 12/02/2008 11:57

Don't like hyphenated names - all a bit bobby sue! IYSWIM!

Like the other 2 though - if DS was a girl he would have been Matilda!

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/02/2008 11:59

Tabitha my favourite - know a Tabitha who is called Tab by her friends and Batty by her family.

Matilda also lovely.

I like Amelia also but for some reason much prefer the spelling Emilia.

fircone · 12/02/2008 12:01

Watch out for Milly: there are 3 in dd's reception class. It spoils a name if you have to go through life being Milly B, or Milly C, or Milly D, instead of just your name.

BirdyArms · 12/02/2008 12:04

Like them all. Matilda is my favourite. Like Amelia and Rose as first and second names but like Twinkie think both is very Bobby Sue!

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/02/2008 12:07

Oh, but not Amelia-Rose though. Sounds like a Mills & Boon heroine.

Agree that double barrelled first names are either (a) pretentious or (b) hillbilly

We would have named dd Amelia Rose had it not meant an unfortunate set of initials and shortening with our surname (went for Philippa Rose instead, known as Pippa).

I am one of the other two (the less common one ) and love having it as a name, although people mis-spelling it is annoying (mine has one letter different to your version).

crumpet · 12/02/2008 12:43

All the names are nice (though my preference woudl be to avoid double barrelled names), but there are thousands of Tillys and Millies around at the moment.

PippiCalzelunghe · 12/02/2008 12:49

absolutely love tabitha, wanted it for dd but dh not so keen unfortunately.

Goes without saying I love it.

we also have a kitten called Tilly...

dinny · 12/02/2008 12:56

ah, good girl, Hatrick!

stepfordwife · 12/02/2008 12:57

all gorgeous
like tabitha best

NorthernLurker · 12/02/2008 13:00

All nice names - I like Matilda Rose shortened to Mattie personally.

dinny · 12/02/2008 13:01

dd is nearly 6, and just after she was born the remake of Bewitched came out and I was terrified it'd become a really popular name but fortunately hasn't, as yet.

she looked like a Tabitha from the second she was born..

oliviaelanasmum · 12/02/2008 13:05

I love them all but especially Amelia-Rose, im abit biased tho' as i have an Elana-Rose

CurleyShirley · 12/02/2008 14:01

My 7 month-old DD is Tabitha
She is called Tabby by her grandma - but we tend to call her Tabs (unplanned, just what happened!).
Love both Amelia and Matilda too, but really like that Tabitha seems a lot less common (at least for now!)
