I like all the names in the category/name family I would call Racy 1950s. People old enough to have a past and who were no longer in their 20s.

The women and men are all glamorous, charming, independent, smokers who drive sports convertibles, drink cocktails, are surprisingly streetwise and did something dubious during the war.

Yes: Lalage, Lorelei, Daphne, Margo, Sylvia, Margot, Margery, Sybil, Joan.

Definity not: Hilda, Vera, Mary or Norma.

Yes: Terence (Terry), Basil, Percival (Percy), Lawrence (Larry), Clive, Redvers,

Definitely not: Norman, Stanley, Arthur or Bill.

Any others?

I would add Walter (Walt) Lucy (or Lucille ) Kathleen , Isadora (Duncan - my personal fave and fits your fast car fast life remit). and Gina (shortened version of the very popular Virginia (Lake) ..

I agree with Virginia, although I think she may have been Ginnie or Ginger. Gina is more likely Georgina once she outgrew Georgie.

Walter - Yes.
Lucille - Yes (Lucy too Victorian in the 1950s).
Kathleen - Hmm yes, she may just squeeze in
Isadora - although lovely, may just be a bit too well bred.

Stan - I am afraid is still a no. Although his mates Sidney and Bernard would probably make the cut.

I am hugely biased here, but I have a Percy, a Sidney and a Stanley
