Hi, which name is the best for a girl: Gabriela or Greta?

Greta

I like Gabriella, but it will get shortened and Gaby is awful and Ella overused

I love Gabrielle. Not terribly keen on Greta but it's not awful. Unlike the PP, the fame of Ms Thunberg has only made me like the name more, because she's made it more familiar to us Brits, and because she's awesome.

Gabriella is ok but dislike the shortened version Gabby. Makes me think of Gobby.

Greta is more of a marmite name but I'd choose it over Gabriella.

Gabriella if you're fine with people asking if you're Spanish/Italian and also ok with people mis-pronouncing the name as Gabrielle. Which I know from personal experience will happen A LOT.

Greta. It is the name of a charismatic young single mum I know.

Gabriella would my choice.

I like Gabita as a shorting for Gabriela. But generally I find the name a bit much, so on balance I'd go for Greta.

I imagine most will spell Gabriella using this spelling. Their are two in my dds nursery class and they both spell it this way. Might get annoying saying Gabriela with just one L all the time

@FloweryGardener I actually know a Greta Giselle, “Gigi”.

I like both, but I prefer Greta. While Gabriela is the prettier sounding name, Greta is so chic. It sounds strong and interesting. Greta sounds like a force to be reckoned with! I’d love to be called Greta.

Gabriela is a stunning name but the shortening Gabi or Gabby is disgusting.

I find Greta sounds very harsh so prefer Gabriella.
