Tess. I really like it. But I'm worried that 'testicle' would be a gift to people wanting to be mean to her. Would you have thought of it? Please tell me what you think!

Thanks

Must try harder.

zorgoid · 07/03/2023 21:42

I prefer Tessa

motleymop · 07/03/2023 21:43

Eh? I'd never think of that.

FoxInSocksSatOnBlocks · 07/03/2023 21:43

I prefer Tessa too. Wouldn’t have thought of testicle though…

sandcastlesandseasalt · 07/03/2023 21:51

Thanks you speedy bunch! Yes, I like Tessa too, and that does get around the issue...though there is something about the simplicity of Tess..

I don't feel strongly about the name either way, but I would never have associated it with testicle.

ririca · 07/03/2023 21:52

I like Tess (and Tessa). The "testicle" thing would never have occured to me.

Lochroy · 07/03/2023 21:52

Eh?

People really do make some crazy associations.

Tess is a lovely name.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 07/03/2023 21:55

I've liked it ever since I read Tess of the d'Ubervilles

Snoopystick · 07/03/2023 21:56

Tess is lovely, I prefer it to Tessa.

Incognito2023 · 07/03/2023 21:58

Really like Tess
Testicle would’ve never occurred to me! (bizarre)

Theunamedcat · 07/03/2023 21:58

Tess the dog? Or tess a presenter? Never testicle

MyEasterEggs · 07/03/2023 21:59

My LO has a friend called Tessa and this has never crossed my mind!

coincimental · 07/03/2023 21:59

There's a Tess in my DS's class at school, another child asked her if her name was short for Tesco 😂so now that's her nickname .

Needmorelego · 07/03/2023 22:00

No one except doctors actually use the word testicle do they?
Tess is a girls name so I would even make even the slightest of links between the name and word.
I like it plus I also like Tessa.
I also like Tessie - makes me think of Tessie Bear in the Noddy books (not a bad connection). There always seemed to be background characters in Enid Blyton school stories called Tessie. I think from that era it was short for Theresa.
Tess is a perfectly nice name.

FatCatt · 07/03/2023 22:00

I’ll admit tess-ticle was the first thing I thought but I’d never mention this to a tess

Zola1 · 07/03/2023 22:00

My best friend at school was called Tessa/known as Tess. I don't remember anyone ever calling her testicle in the 11 years we were friends

FatCatt · 07/03/2023 22:01

I do work in the medical field though

Undermyumberellaellaella · 07/03/2023 22:03

I don't feel like it's a real name when I say it (I know it it) which puts me off but I wouldn't says it's bad.

Same!

RunTowardsTheLight · 07/03/2023 22:14

Love Tess

nocoolnamesleft · 07/03/2023 22:18

My mind goes to "of the D'Urbevilles" rather than testicles.

Haribo16 · 07/03/2023 22:26

I think if you were worried about kids using the name for teasing purposes it would have to be tess as in tesco. I knew a girl called gennette at school and everyone would sing genette the worst a man can get in the Gillette the best a man can get theme song from the advert (showing my age). Kids will find anything though to be mean about.

DramaAlpaca · 07/03/2023 22:32

I love Tess as a name in its own right, not short for anything. It's fab. I wouldn't think of 'testicle' at all.

weathervane1 · 07/03/2023 22:33

... unless your surname is Tickle, OP?
