Tess. I really like it. But I'm worried that 'testicle' would be a gift to people wanting to be mean to her. Would you have thought of it? Please tell me what you think!

Thanks

Wonderful, this is music to my ears! Well, the Tesco thing isn't, but hopefully she could live with that!

I mean...you'd have to if that were your surname, no?! It would be a 'North West' kind of gift that you couldn't pass up!

Love Tess. Simple but solid.

... unless your surname is Tickle, OP?

That was in answer to this! 🤦

It's just very of the D'urbervilles to me.
Not a great life story there.

greentreeseverywhere · 07/03/2023 22:50

I have a Tessa. she hates Tess
and everyone always says how lovely a name it is and then what pet they owned named Tessa when they were younger

LizzieBet14 · 07/03/2023 22:54

Beautiful name ❤️

Wotsitsname · 08/03/2023 10:08

Cute name, I prefer Tessy

RosaBonheur · 08/03/2023 10:10

Fine as long as your surname isn't Tickle.

Heckythump1 · 08/03/2023 10:11

Mother in law had a dog called Tess and we all called her Testicle... I do love the name though, and prefer it to Tessa which just sounds like a middle aged woman! :P

purpledalmation · 08/03/2023 10:30

I'd never have thought of testicle 😂

barca123 · 08/03/2023 10:52

Love it

I would not think to associate Tess and Testicle.

Though maybe - bless, cress, best, guess. Ha ha ...

DuchessOfSausage · 08/03/2023 13:07

I prefer Tess to Tessa, but both are ok.
Wouldn't use it with the surname Tickle/Tickell

My mind goes to "of the D'Urbevilles" rather than testicles.

Me too.

SophiaLarsen · 08/03/2023 13:31

I have a colleague called Tess. DH refers to her as Tessticle....

Cassiehopes · 08/03/2023 13:48

Love Tess! Would never have thought ‘testicle’ until you said it!

ourflagmeansdeath · 08/03/2023 17:08

It's beautiful, even though I do prefer Tessa as a full form.

midsomermurderess · 08/03/2023 17:40

I know a Tess. I think she would have mentioned if people routinely called her ‘testicle’. It’s about context as much an anything else and Tess is recognised as an unproblematic name in the context of a girl or woman. And don’t people mostly say ‘balls’, colloquially for that bit of a body? Do kids below a certain age even know the proper word?

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 08/03/2023 18:42

I like it, also like Tessa

HeyManIJustWantSomeMuesli · 08/03/2023 18:54

Tess and Tessa are both really really lovely; feminine without being fluffy, proper classic names without being boring or overused.
Testicle wouldn’t even cross my mind… and I am quite childish…

Londonmama85 · 08/03/2023 20:25

Very bland

LivesOnPigeonStreet · 08/03/2023 20:30

Tess would never make me think of testicles. Well, it does now but never has before. I really don't think it will cross anybody's mind.

Starlighttwinkle · 08/03/2023 20:37

I don’t like Tess or Tessa. Makes me think of when people say two tonne Tess/Tessa referring to someone being overweight

Never heard that in my life!
