Love both but can't decide!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Edie is nice and not commonly used.
Lots of people will probably come on and say Violet is too similar sounding to violence.
Depends if you like Vi as a shortened version perhaps?

FingerPuppet · 07/03/2023 13:03

I love Violet.

I have two boys but Violet was my choice for a girl.

threeplusmum · 07/03/2023 13:05

Tbh I don't like neither

Targetbag · 07/03/2023 13:07

Violet is much nicer

Love both but can't decide!

Can you say which one you prefer and your two top names (for a girl)

OP posts:
OldTinHat · 07/03/2023 13:11

Violet. 100%

Imnoonesfool · 07/03/2023 13:26

My 14 year old is called Evie Violet. So to me Edie Violet together sounds nice

shoopshoopdedoo · 07/03/2023 13:57

I prefer Edie! Personally not a fan of Violet, though not entirely sure why.

Kranke · 07/03/2023 14:07

I know quite a few Edie’s (there are two at my child’s nursery), and I think it’s a nice name, but a bit dull. Violet is ok, I’ve never met one, it makes me think of Willy Wonka.

SallyWD · 07/03/2023 14:32

I love both but would have Edith as a full name and Edie for short.

MrsMitford3 · 07/03/2023 14:35

I love Violet-think it is very pretty.

I think Edie doesn't sound nice to say-not for me

Twoinapod · 07/03/2023 15:00

Violet is better. There’s so many Edie/Edith’s

AinmÁlainn · 07/03/2023 15:42

I'm not too keen on flower names but I love Edie.

LightHousePanda · 07/03/2023 16:39

Violet was our first choice for a girl but Edie is also nice (I am torn as I usually prefer full names rather than nicknames) though Edie is prettier than Edith.

pilates · 07/03/2023 17:01

Edie

ourflagmeansdeath · 07/03/2023 17:09

Edie, much nicer. Don't think it's as common as the endless numbers of Eve, Evie, Evelyn while I've known a lot of baby Violet's recently.

LulooLemon · 07/03/2023 18:37

Violet.

The ones I know are called Violet, Vee, Vivi and Lettie. Never Vi or Violent

Rainbowbaby97 · 07/03/2023 18:40

My little girl is called Edie Marie and I absolutely love it. Couldn’t imagine her being called anything else 😊

I agree with this

user1492757084 · 08/03/2023 11:12

Not a massive Violet fan but I prefer it to Edie.

Viviennemary · 08/03/2023 11:28

I really like Violet. Edie is ok but I'm not overkeen on it. Don't like Edith very much either. But they are perfectly acceptable names.

Heckythump1 · 08/03/2023 11:30

Not a fan of either, but prefer Edie as Violet sounds like violent, which I know is daft, but I just can't get past it!

Pemba · 08/03/2023 11:38

Eden, with Edie for short (Edie is nice but not a full name, Edith is too old lady).

Viola nicer than Violet.

xprincessxjanetx · 11/03/2023 22:51

Love both but I'm slightly biased as I have a DD called Violet. I like Edie a lot but not as a nickname for Edith, just Edie.
