Help can't pick a baby boy name

NewBabyonboard · 05/03/2023 10:29

I started a few threads asking for favourite unusual names favourite boys names etc
I can't find a boy name I love
I'm really struggling and I don't know why I just can't pick a name
As registration day is coming I don't know what to do I'm so confused
In a couple of the threads people suggested

Raphael Maximus and Cassius I really like those but can't choose

I think I'm struggling as both my parents have passed away and used to seek approval from them for everything maybe that's why I feel so lost I don't know

I like Raphael
don't like Maximus or Cassius. Prefer Maximilian, Magnus and Caspian
Would you be interested in Ralph or Rafael (legitimate spelling)
Would you be interested in following names: Remy, Cassidy, Jasper, Elliot, Elias, Lucius, Gregory, Valerian (Agatha Christy used it as toxin in her novel, but in EU it's consider healing herb), Valentine, Frederick, Joshua, Richard, Edmund...

But I think Raphael is really good name.

Reddahlias · 05/03/2023 11:32

Raphael and Cassius are lovely.

I don't like Maximus/Max.

How about Reuben, Quentin or Caspar?

shoopshoopdedoo · 05/03/2023 11:45

Congratulations!

Raphael is my favourite of your choices. I also like Max, but am less keen on Maximus. Personally, I don’t like Cassius, but I think I’m usually in the minority on MN.

fajitaaaa · 05/03/2023 11:52

Mason?
Lucas?

Raphael Maximillian?

CastleTower · 05/03/2023 12:01

Are you the poster who keeps asking about Cassius? It seems like that's the name you keep coming back to - go with your gut!

Sometimes lots of anxiety about the baby's name can be a sign of PND. Just to put that out there. I hope you have someone to talk to and you can get help if you need it.

NewBabyonboard · 05/03/2023 12:13

Someone suggested Cassius the other day thought it was different
Another one was Ossian and Atticus I thought were different too

I do like Raphael though

Maybe
Raphael Max

I personally have quite different tastes I think, but if you don’t love any of your options, I’ve tried to think of a few more options?
Atlas (altho the meaning can be a bit eek)
Avery
Abel
Lysander
Cedric
Sebastien
Gabriel
Silas

Cassius Raphael is nice but I think the NNs that may come from Raphael are nicer. Cass/Cassie obviously sound more feminine, I don’t know if that would bother you?

NewBabyonboard · 05/03/2023 12:25

TellSomeoneElse · thanks for your suggestions Avery is really nice I've not heard that before!!! Ooh I really like that one 😀

Oh I’m glad you like it! It’s so bloody hard to decide on a name, it feels like such a massive responsibility naming a person, I was so daunted when I was trying to decide on a name for my boy.

Mumofgirls2017 · 05/03/2023 12:42

I love all but Cassius is my favourite. Other suggestions

casper

What does your partner say? Do they have any favourites? (Assuming you have one? Apologies if you don’t)

DuchessOfSausage · 05/03/2023 13:26

I don't like Raphael at all
Maximus and Cassius are ok

DuchessOfSausage · 05/03/2023 13:27

Maximilian is better, and Max is definitely the best from Raph, Cass and Max.

Choose a couple of second names first. Maybe after dear relatives.
Then revise the first name.
Some combinations ...
Raphael Claude
Maximus Hugh
Cassius David
Atticus Paul
Ossian Patrick

He says what ever you want to call him I will be happy

Which is great but I just don't know 🤯

I really like Caspian, and Roman was one of my favourites. Our surname ends with ‘an’ so could use either. I did have a look back through our family tree which helped with middle names.

lemonmama · 05/03/2023 14:14

Aww I’m so pleased, I’m not having any more babies so I won’t get to use Roman. Lovely to think of a little Roman out there!

Hankthehonk · 05/03/2023 23:09

Wow it's cool to see someone decide a name purely based on a suggestion here! The power of mumsnet.
Roman is a lovely name Congratulations

KatPatPat · 06/03/2023 13:09

I vote Cassius.

I can so relate to your inability to choose situation. I am still looking for mums approval on anything big in my life though I am living independently for past 18 years and I do not look at her as role model for about the same length of time. But I felt devastated when I found out that she didn’t like my already born and registered child’s name and I was agonising and gone in some sort of depression over that fact. Hopefully mumsbetters will help you to choose that perfect name x
