Is our chosen name for DS1, Francis will be on the birth certificate but I would like to use Frank for day to day. DP wants to use Frankie.
Is Frankie too feminine?
Does anyone have a male Frankie? What is his BC name?

I don't think Frankie is too feminine at all and love Francis

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 04/03/2023 18:39

Frank or Frankie are male names and he will be called by both.

ourflagmeansdeath · 04/03/2023 19:25

Frankie isn't feminine, it's unisex. Like with the name Georgie. I think it's really lovely, and Francis too. You can use both Frank and Frankie right??

BevMarsh · 04/03/2023 19:28

I like Frankie better than Frank for any male under 50 years of age.
I think it's fine for either sex.

Twoinapod · 04/03/2023 19:58

To me Francis is far more feminine than Frankie. Frank is a bit of a harsh name for a child. Frankie is the best of the three

33goingon64 · 04/03/2023 20:42

Love it. My DF's middle name was Francis and we had Frank on our boy's list.

Ilovealido · 04/03/2023 20:43

Lovely name- Francis or Frankie.

ZebraKid71 · 04/03/2023 20:49

All three options are fine, love Francis and Frankie.

shoopshoopdedoo · 04/03/2023 21:07

I love Frank! Not so keen on Frankie but it’s OK, too. Nice to be able to have options.

I know a Frankie
He's a cool dude, about 17 years old now , it's an unusual name but very definitely a male name

Francis is more a unisex name
It's

It's a good choice - Francis nn Frankie

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 05/03/2023 01:32

He can bounce between Frank and Frankie depending on the circs. You don't need to formally decide on one or the other.

Luredbyapomegranate · 05/03/2023 01:44

Frankie as a nn is fine. I’m guessing he’ll gravitate to Frank as he gets older

Alex Drake · 05/03/2023 01:47

I know a few male Frankies aged 40+ have never encountered a female Frankie.

The Sister Sledge song from the 80's was about a male Frankie.

Barleysugar86 · 05/03/2023 01:54

I'd go Frank on birth certificate and Frankie nn personally. Think Frank is a lot stronger/ more masculine than Francis. But then I know female Frances's and there is no different in pronunciation!

Don't know any Frankie's but I'd think young boy if I heard it,

Pinkychilla · 05/03/2023 03:37

We have a male friend and he spells his Franky
