I just started a new job, and a woman that I work with has the most beautiful name, that I have never heard before. I rarely hear a name that I have never heard before, but I def never heard this before. I think it so lovely.

It is Brosna.

What do you think of it?

I have never heard it used as a girls name but there is a place in county Kerry called Brosna. I wonder if her parents had a connection to it

Doggydarling · 04/03/2023 01:40

It's a rural village in Co. Kerry, a relative had a pup there for years and I pulled many a pint in it, nice spot but I wouldn't call a daughter after it.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 04/03/2023 01:43

I think there's a place called Brosna in Offaly too.

I suspect a lot of people would hear Brosnan as in Pierce.

Eyerollcentral · 04/03/2023 01:46

Awful name. People will just call the child Brosnan as in Piers or worse Bronson as in Charles (prisoner or actor) If you are considering an Irish name for a daughter and want a Br name have you thought about Brónagh? Or Bláthnaid might suit your taste

Brosna is a lovely name, especially if it has significance for the woman. Does she love her name?
I thought of Bronte and Dubrovnik for some reason and they are both beautiful.

Mooshamoo · 04/03/2023 09:46

I really like it. Her surname starts with B too. So her name is something like :

Brosna Brown.

I think it has a lovely ring to it.

I see Brosna listed online as an Irish girl's name. So I think that the place name has become a girls name

It defo hasn’t. Your colleague’s parents must have been going for a Brooklyn Beckham vibe. Never met or heard of an Irish girl called Brosna. Dreadful name.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 05/03/2023 00:59

Terrible.

DramaAlpaca · 05/03/2023 01:15

Eek, I'm sorry but that is one seriously unattractive name.

Luredbyapomegranate · 05/03/2023 01:41

Makes me think of Brosnan. I think Brosna is pretty ugly myself.
