Not particularly keen on Art/Arty or Al/Aly, just wondering if anyone else can think of something different for either name? Thank you

Something based on their surname or hair colour?

Those diminutives will be used for those names, whether you like it or not.

Um, Wart like in the Sword in the Stone? Maybe not.

Yorick, as in Alas poor Yorick?

TBH, nothing is coming to mind bar Artie and Allie.

The only Alastair I knew spend secondary school being called Alice, or Lissie- he did not like either.

Twoinapod · 24/02/2023 19:57

If you don’t like the obvious nicknames I wouldn’t choose them. People will likely end up calling them art/Artie/Arth or Al/Ally

Your sons' friends will make up their nick names.

You just call them Arthur and Alistair.

Fizzadora · 25/02/2023 00:50

Why didn't you just call them something you like?

CallieQ · 25/02/2023 00:59

Why not just stick to Arthur and Alastair

Luredbyapomegranate · 25/02/2023 01:01

Alistair is sometimes Sandy in Scotland (because it’s a form of Alexander).

Arthur is sometimes Bear. I think because that’s what it means (check).

My grandad was an Arthur and people called him Arch.
