Too much..? 😅My DH and I both (surprisingly) agree that we quite like it.

I love it. My boy has another ‘M’ name (not a bible name) that over the years has been nicknamed/shortened into a variety of pet names, one of which is Moses. I find that if I call him that inadvertently in public, people often comment what a lovely name.

Daisychained8 · 22/02/2023 09:37

I love Moses! It’s on my list for a boy. I know a baby Moses

Topseyt123 · 22/02/2023 09:37

I do quite like it although wouldn't have used it personally.

It's a good name. More commonly used in other countries than in the UK I think. My friend is married to a Moses.

SpinningFloppa · 22/02/2023 09:44

Know loads so I don’t think it’s too out there (the ones I know are all African)

WombatsAndGumTrees · 22/02/2023 09:48

My first instinct that is that it is a bit much, but I knew a grown man name Moses once and it didn't feel that way when interacting with him. He was lovely. Go for it if you love it.

HoldingTheDoor · 22/02/2023 09:52

It's awful. It's such an unattractive name.

Sandysandwich · 22/02/2023 09:53

I knew one, he went by Mo ir skmetimes Mose (Moze) which suited him well- his whole name did feel a bit much.

BreviloquentBastard · 22/02/2023 09:56

You know I actually really like it. There are definitely weirder and more out there names. My friend is a maternity ward nurse and she regularly regales us with the ridiculous names people choose, I don't think Moses is that out there at all.

Also Mo is very cute as a nn for a little one I think.

Derrymum123 · 22/02/2023 09:58

I actually love it. Strong name and not overused.

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 22/02/2023 09:58

I love it

sevenbyseven · 22/02/2023 09:58

Unusual but I like it... Chris Martin & Gwyneth Paltrow's son is called Moses 🙂

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 22/02/2023 11:33

20 years ago I'd have been surprised to meet a Noah. People are always combing the bible for lesser used names. Moses is both well known and little used, so may go the way of Noah. I like it.

CatLoaf · 22/02/2023 11:34

Unfortunately we mentioned it to DD, and she's now going round telling everyone that's his name 😱I know it sounds silly, but I kind of want the name to be a surprise - guess we should just feed her another random name, heh.

(It sounds so cute when she says it, point in its favour.) I guess there are a LOT of Mos around

I'm starting too many threads btw, sorry! Glad to see the fairly positive repose to Moses though, thank you 😄

Not a fan of Moses, but then I'm not a fan of (the very MN popular names) Jacob, Thomas, Samuel and the like... the sound of them makes me squirm.

CatLoaf · 22/02/2023 14:47

I don't like many biblical names actually - hate Noah.

i love Omri though

Moses is delightful.
My favourite book was Moses in the Bullrushes as a kid. Miriam is a great name for his sister.

CatLoaf · 22/02/2023 14:52

Thanks!

Alas, his sister is not called Miriam - that'd be cute though! If very on the nose

The only Moses's I have known/known of have been from Africa or American. it is a nice name.

Snugglemonkey · 24/02/2023 05:27

I like Moses. I also like Miriam, but not together.

Luredbyapomegranate · 25/02/2023 15:36

It’s quite A Lot, but not necessarily Too Much. And you can always call him Mo
