What do you think? I just discovered this name and think the sound and meaning are lovely! I’m surprised that it’s so rare!

With personal experience of what a pain it is, I would never give a child an unusual name that they're going to have to keep repeating/spelling for people!

I imagine a lot of people will hear Rowena or Rowenna and need to be corrected.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 22/02/2023 09:26

Gorgeous name, and I frequently suggest it on name threads. Lowenna is my preferred spelling and perfectly easy to pronounce! Go for it!

Rowen32 · 22/02/2023 09:54

It's lovely - I would pronounce Lowena Low - ee - na and Lowenna - Low - enn - a : I'm not sure if that's right or wrong..

khaa2091 · 22/02/2023 09:58

Lovely.
Any Cornish connection?
(my daughter is Loveday)

Twoinapod · 22/02/2023 10:36

Personally I don’t like it, it sounds a bit old lady ish. I imagine it would get shortened to low which isn’t a great nn either.

Mumsnut · 22/02/2023 10:39

I know a Lovena

goldenfoliage · 22/02/2023 10:47

I love the sound, but dislike association with word low. Pretty meaning as well, but can't remember the exact meaning tho.
I pronounce it Lo-VEN-a, which is probably wrong.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 22/02/2023 10:51

The Lowenna spelling is better as people might think Lowena rhyme with Rowena.

I like Morwenna too.

JamSandle · 22/02/2023 10:56

I've only met one Lowenna. She was a free spirit, beautiful girl. I've liked the name since.

CatOnTheChair · 22/02/2023 11:09

I would pronounce the 2 names differently.
I went to school with a Lowenna. I cant remember any issues with her name. She went by Lenny most of the time.

I like Lowenna. And it does have a beautiful meaning.
I also like Luella

mathanxiety · 22/02/2023 14:24

Beautiful name.

I'd use the Lowenna spelling.
Lowena is low-ee-na.

DuchessOfSausage · 22/02/2023 19:04

Lowenna
Like it a lot

Lion1618 · 25/02/2023 08:14

I'm not a fan. It's the 'wenna' sound for me, as I also really dislike Morwenna. I'm in Cornwall so Lowenna is a fairly common name here.
I much prefer the masculine version, Lowen as it hasn't got the whiny 'wenna' sound at the end. It's unisex and less frilly/old lady.
If you prefer a more feminine name then another suggestion is Elowen. It's also Cornish and has a sweet meaning.

LadyWithLapdog · 25/02/2023 08:18

I like it. Never heard of it but it has a nice sound.

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 25/02/2023 08:18

It was on my list for our 2nd daughter. I love the name, husband is cornish so we had that connection as well.
