Love Robyn and Lois :)

Not a fan of Hazel and Ella is too popular (annoyingly because it was my granny's name and it is lovely!)

Piapea · 20/02/2023 11:59

Robyn, Hazel and Ella are all lovely. Hazel is probably the most underused and interesting, meaning there probably won't be any others in her school.

I really dislike Lois. I think it's because Of Malcom in the middle's mom being called Lois. It gives me stressed out 40 something, midwest American mom vibes.. but that's just me 😄

RobertsRadio · 20/02/2023 12:02

I love Robyn and like Hazel. Not keen on the other two.

ourflagmeansdeath · 20/02/2023 15:10

Robyn - Really really love this - especially with a y, not an i. My favourite.
Hazel - Pretty, but is def increasing in popularity.
Ella - Least fav, just plain.
Lois - I like - prefer Eloise.

Robyn is gorgeous!!

GatoradeMeBitch · 20/02/2023 15:38

Hazel is my favourite.
Robyn makes me think of the popstar.
Ella is over-represented, she will probably be Ella Initial through school.
I agree with poster above, Lois would be prettier as Eloise.

Hazel

Backstreets · 20/02/2023 15:52

I'd rank them

Ella
Hazel
Robyn
Lois

all nice names though!

xprincessxjanetx · 21/02/2023 00:35

Robyn or Ella. I'm indifferent with Hazel and I seriously dislike Lois (makes me think of family guy!)

CallieQ · 21/02/2023 00:58

Hazel

Aily17 · 21/02/2023 05:29

I like Hazel and Ella then Robyn, Lois

user1492757084 · 03/03/2023 09:14

All lovely.
I love Ella best. I know it is popular but my old Aunt is Ella.
Hazel, Robin and Lois - even.

DueinAugust23 · 04/03/2023 06:49

Hazel and Ella.

Robyn is a bit masculine. Is it pronounced like the male name Robin?

I don’t like Lois , sounds a French word that is not name like bois, gois, dois, rois, pois

JumbledE · 04/03/2023 07:09

My order of preference :)

Lois
Ella
Robyn
Hazel

All good names though!

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 04/03/2023 07:15

I've never met an Ella I didn't like.

Whydoitry · 04/03/2023 08:06

Love Hazel
Love Robin but less keen on the Robyn spelling.
Lois is ok.
Ella is nice in itself but I know a million Ella and Ellies.

ImAvingOops · 04/03/2023 10:05

Lois. Really underused and beautiful

Amadeaa · 04/03/2023 10:10

I like all apart from Lois. Ella might be my favourite (could be biased because I know a lovely Ella).

Teaandcake2023 · 04/03/2023 12:30

Thank you so much for all your comments! I think we’ve narrowed it down to Ella or Robyn but still not 100% sure.

Robyn - do you prefer it with a Y or I for a girl? @DueinAugust23 it is pronounced the same as the male name Robin. I really like unisex names but not sure about best spelling (also love Rowan but have a Rowan in the family).

Ella - is Ella still as popular as it was 10-15 years ago? Really like the name but have seen a lot of comments online about how popular it is/ been done to death etc

any other suggestions? We like shortish girls names that are easy to pronounce/ travel well (we have family in Germany and Sweden and will be travelling a fair bit).

Please let me know if you have any other ideas 🙂

@Teaandcake2023 if you go with Robyn choose that spelling as the other way is the male spelling. Personally I don’t like it. I just think of robbing or hear bin. It’s not a pleasant name.

Ella is lovely, if you wanted more options you could choose another name and have Ella as a nickname. Such as Eloise or Eleni. My daughter is 11 and I’ve only ever known 1 Ella all through her school life so far so I don’t think it’s as popular as people make out. I actually know of more Robyn/Robins

anon37484291918 · 04/03/2023 12:52

Hazel is a beautiful name

peaceinourtime · 05/03/2023 23:56

Lois, Robyn, Hazel then Ella. There are lots of little Ella's around as its quite a common name at the moment.

TallulahBetty · 07/03/2023 15:26

Lois should NEVER be pronounced Loyce, as some said above - it is Low-is. Sorry to derail as you seem to be leaning towards the other names, but this does annoy me.

ourflagmeansdeath · 07/03/2023 23:39

I really do think Robyn is the perfect unisex name, and it can be changed to masculine and feminine by the changing of the 'y' or 'i.' Robyn is much more feminine to me, while Robin is masc. I personally think Robyn is gorgeous and much lovelier than Ella, which will probably become very dated. So you have my vote for that!
