I posted about the name Jasmine, and the comments were very helpful. The other options I have are -

Hazel
Cora
Erica

Looking for more honest opinions / other suggestions. Thanks!

Hazel is just lovely: I think of nature, strength, calm.

Galadriel90 · 17/02/2023 21:21

All lovely, I like Cora best. I like old fashioned names.

Em339 · 17/02/2023 21:21

Hazel and then Cora. Dislike Erica!

TheOriginalEmu · 17/02/2023 21:23

I like all of them. In preference for me
Jasmine
Cora
Erica
Hazel

but they’re all lovely!

Viviennemary · 17/02/2023 21:24

Hazel I like this a lot
Cora I like
Erica awful

What about Violet.

Cuddlycheetah · 17/02/2023 21:25

Not a fan of Erica in the slightest.

Hazel is gorgeous.

RiaOverTheRainbow · 17/02/2023 21:29

I like Hazel and Erica a lot, not a fan of Cora. As alternatives I'll suggest Heather or Freya.

aibutohavethisusername · 17/02/2023 21:31

Hazel is my favourite.

Yika · 17/02/2023 21:32

I really like Erica, it’s elegant and international, not that popular and won’t date badly.

Hazel and Cora are nice enough too.

PrimarilyParented · 17/02/2023 21:38

I love Erica, like Hazel and don’t like Cora at all (just makes me think Core, like the core of an apple and doesn’t seem to have a nice sound or connotations for me).

miniaturepixieonacid · 17/02/2023 22:06

I like all of them. My order of preference would be:
Erica
Jasmine
Hazel
Cora

ifellintoarabbithole · 17/02/2023 22:34

I absolutely love Cora as a shortening of Coralie - it was on our girls list.

Twoinapod · 17/02/2023 22:39

My preference from best to worse is:
Cora
Hazel
Erica
Jasmine

how about Heather, it was on my list but my older daughter can’t say ‘th’, or Esther

2crossedout1 · 17/02/2023 22:42

I like Cora best from your list, and I also like other similar names - Cara, Tara, Clara, Claudia - I don't know if any of those appeal to you.

MajorCarolDanvers · 17/02/2023 22:45

Love Cora
Like Hazel

Loopylands · 17/02/2023 22:47

Cora reminds me of that old drunk woman from east Enders!

I like Hazel

I don’t like Erica, not sure why. Reminds me of Eric….don’t like that name. Wasn’t there a cartoon about Eric…wasn’t he bananaman?

ToAllTheStars · 18/02/2023 07:20

My honest opinions are:

Hazel - it's ok. Reminds me of hazelnuts whenever I hear it though.

Cora - I don't really like this one. Reminds me of apple core.

Erica - I like this one. It's unusual but not too much.

Lavenderfowl · 18/02/2023 07:25

Love Erica, it was on our list, Hazel is nice too, but softer somehow, and if Cora is sounding too harsh to some people, how about Coral?

laurwalsh · 18/02/2023 07:26

I love Cara sorry not so much Cora but Cara was my name but then when I had my baby girl she just wasn't a Cara she was a Mila. It's quiet amazing how this happens. I never believed when people said it but it happened and I can vouch sometimes when their born things change. I still love the name though. Hazel is pretty too

mintich · 18/02/2023 07:50

I really like Hazel! Great name in that it's unusual enough that there aren't lots of kids by that name, but everyone knows it, how to pronounce it etc.
I think it's beautiful

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 18/02/2023 07:52

Hazel is lovely the other two are not

Devonhousehunter · 18/02/2023 07:54

Erica is linked to evangelical purity sex culture

Beautiful name but.....😔 (DD knows 2 Erica's in secondary school and they are having a few issues with it!)

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 18/02/2023 08:35

Erica is linked to evangelical purity sex culture

Crikey. Well, I've learnt something new today.

Devonhousehunter · 18/02/2023 08:43

That's exactly what I thought too. And I didn't even believe it until it blew up on Twitter last year (purity rings and things) - many Erica's holding placards about sinning and things.

😳

Luredbyapomegranate · 18/02/2023 10:15

I love Erica - very elegant, underused and international
It is not linked with purity culture in the US! It was just quite popular in the late 80s / 90s, so there are a lot more Ericas in the US than the UK

Jasmine is very pretty, without being wet.

Cora is quite nice too

Hazel - I really don’t like. Sounds very harsh to me, but a friend of mine had a step mother called Hazel who was on the rough side so that might be why.
