Gentle giant name for a boy?

I recently had a son and we’re struggling to find a name; he’s a gentle giant and super tall so I’d like to find a name that suits a larger baby and is quite soft/ round sounding if that makes sense?

I’m looking for any ideas and also ones that lend themselves to a nickname

So far we’ve thought about Henry and Barney but I’m not sure how I’d shorten Henry - I don’t like Harry or Hal, and Barney just reminds us of the purple dinosaur!

Any ideas?

You need a name that’ll work for the average sized man, as well as a large cuddly baby. Because he’s going to be a man much longer than he is a baby. And you don’t know how big he’ll be when fully grown.

I read the post and thought exactly the same. Just pick a name you like.

How do you know he will be gentle or indeed a giant?!

also, Dave 🤣🤣 please don’t go for that one

Magnus, surely! 🙂

The gentle giant in my life is called Matt.

I was going to suggest Barney! I have one, although he was small at birth. But it does make me think gentle giant for some reason.

Only 3 people have ever mentioned the purple dinosaur, and he's a teen now.

Barney is lovely but I saw today the dino has been re vamped and having a relaunch

I'm assuming this is a brand new baby? How on earth can you know that he's going to be 'a giant' (gentle or otherwise!) 🤦‍♀️

Just pick a name you like 🤷‍♀️

My boy is a gentle giant, he is 6'3" and a lovely kind man. He is Owen James which really suits his stature and character.

My nephew is Barney - nice to hear there are others around. He's a bit of a gentle kid (late teens now), but not a giant. Was a big baby though.
He's never been bothered by the purple dinosaur - and I can't imagine his teen mates would mention it.

I like the name a lot.

That's one way to end up with a short, wiry, fidgety adult 🤣

If you know your Irish mythology you will know that Fynn was pretty big!

I knew a gentle giant type in my teens and his name was Danny.
I'd be wary though - DS2 was a big, chubby, cuddly baby and he's now a short, stocky 2yo. I thought he would always be long and tall because he seemed to have very long legs as a baby but he's evened out and is now shorter than his peers at nursery.
