What do you think? I love it, but worry it sounds a bit disney / frilly / cheap?

The thing is you will ALWAYS no matter what name get someone disliking it or saying it’s tacky, no matter what the name is especially on MN who have a warped perception of names.

I'm not sure in what way posters' opinions are 'warped' Confused?

Honest? Yes. But warped??

Thanks all - food for thought.

It's a pretty name but are you Muslim OP? I'm pretty sure it's considered a Muslim name

I know around 10 Jasmines, all ages none Muslim

I Know a Muslim Yasmin

I love it!
But I do have a teenage Jasmine of my own. She's brilliantly clever, and multi-talented, and will certainly not be an unqualified school leaver at 16 Hmm

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 17/02/2023 22:48

I really like it. I have met 2 and they were both great.

WhatHappenedToYoyos · 17/02/2023 22:51

Lots of Jasmine's where I work. Clearly a very popular name in our area in the last 12 years!

If you like it that's what matters. The girls I've taught don't have any of the negative attributes some PPs are suggesting.

Reinventinganna · 17/02/2023 22:52

I don’t like it. I agree that it belongs in the bin with Jade.

SheilaFentiman · 17/02/2023 22:59

I think it’s pretty, but I love Jessamyn!

Windbeneathmybingowings · 17/02/2023 22:59

I like it in theory but its a bit over the top feminine maybe, don’t know. It’s the princess Jasmine connotation for me. Like calling a child Belle or Cinderella.

Luredbyapomegranate · 18/02/2023 09:37

I like it.

HoldingTheDoor · 18/02/2023 09:40

It's very nice.

Karmakamelion · 18/02/2023 09:41

Very pretty

Peregrina · 18/02/2023 09:43

Beautiful desert flower

The only Jasmine I knew was big and loud - not at all a pretty desert flower. So I think it's a name you have to be careful with - like calling someone Patience who turns out to be hasty and impulsive.

Cheap? WTF?

Anyway I like it.

sleepingbuddha · 18/02/2023 09:47

I called my daughter jasmine 29 years ago. She changed her name when she was 16 to her middle name after saying that I had given her a page 3 girls name. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I still think it's a nice name.

petalbanana · 19/02/2023 06:57

I have a jasmine. I love her name. My dh wanted another name but we're both really happy we went with it. It's a name that I think will stand the test of time, isn't really shortened easily and I think pretty but strong at the same time. Like my dd :-)

petalbanana · 19/02/2023 07:02

Also I remember asking on here about baby names and whatever name you put on here will have some weird comments. I haven't heard my dc say anyones associated her name with an air freshener irl 😂 had plenty of nice comments though.
