What do you think? I love it, but worry it sounds a bit disney / frilly / cheap?

Beautiful name.

Nimbostratus100 · 16/02/2023 12:36

beautiful

YesitsBess · 16/02/2023 12:37

It's my daughter's middle name. She's nearly 23 and no complaints as yet. 😊

Lovely name.

MrsBunnyEars · 16/02/2023 12:37

Love it. Marginally prefer Yasmine tho.

KirstenBlest · 16/02/2023 12:48

I like it.

cstaff · 16/02/2023 12:52

My friend's 19yo daughter is called Jasmine. It is a lovely name. It is often shortened to Jas but equally lovely.

ourflagmeansdeath · 16/02/2023 12:55

It's beautiful - has lovely connotations. I know one who goes by Jaz and has an older sister called Olivia. Minnie as a nickname is cute on a baby as well.

Guavafish1 · 16/02/2023 12:56

Beautiful desert flower

wetpebbles · 16/02/2023 12:57

Lovely

pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs · 16/02/2023 12:58

Hmmm, I'm not that keen. Funny thing is I love the flower - it's beautiful and one of my favourite scents. But I do tend to associate the name with frilly princess vibes!

That said, I have a very low tolerance for frilliness. And I'm sure once I met a Jasmine irl I wouldn't think that.

Pemba · 16/02/2023 13:02

It's a very pretty name. Not tacky, no.

Have you considered the older English version, Jessamine (or Jessamyn)? Even prettier IMO and then you have the option of the short form 'Jess', which is nicer than Jazz I think.

evemillbank · 16/02/2023 13:17

I'm not a fan but only because I know a couple who aren't nice people!

Unicorn2022 · 16/02/2023 13:18

I have always loved it

Howtohideasausage · 16/02/2023 13:21

You said honest. I think it’s quite tacky as it puts me in mind of air freshener and strippers, which is a shame as I like the plant.
I also knew one at school and she got called jizz-mine.
I see I’m in the minority though.

Rauha · 16/02/2023 13:26

I don't like it at all

Purpletopaz42 · 16/02/2023 16:13

I really like Jasmine, I think it's a lovely name. I definitely don't think it sounds Disney, frilly or cheap. The first thing that came to my mind was the flower Jasmine and flower names are classics.

jays · 16/02/2023 16:14

Beautiful!

SunshineAndFizz · 16/02/2023 16:15

I'm a fan

WinterFoxes · 16/02/2023 16:21

It's very pretty. Not sure if it had a surge of popularity 20 years ago but three girls in DS's friendship group are called Jasmine!

CornedBeef451 · 16/02/2023 17:01

I have a teenage Jasmine so obviously I like it!

plumduck · 16/02/2023 17:14

Love it. We need more

Floralnomad · 16/02/2023 17:22

Love it , was my mums name and she was born in 1940 so definitely not Disney .

losingit31 · 16/02/2023 17:29

I've known several - would now be in 20s. Also Muslim girls names Yasmine and Yasmina.

RuthW · 16/02/2023 17:42

It's ok. Bit 90s but a perfectly reasonable name.

I'm with you. I think it's a "cheap" sounding name - left school at 16, still living and working in the dumpy town she was born in.
