Frank will be his name. I know it’s very mixed on here so please no negative comments as it has already become my DS name.

Q. Would you use Frankie as a nn whilst he is young as Frank is quite harsh sounding for a baby? Yes I know they are only babies for a short time

Q. Would you put Frank or Francis on the BC?

I think frankie is a cute NN so itl prob stick for a while! I'm not a fan of Francis even tho it's a family name so will be our next kids middle name. I'd have frank on the BC.

Ydkiml · 15/02/2023 20:01

Frankie sounds totally different to Frank, so I’d call him his name , Frank , from the start . People will get used to it . Francis on bc I’m not sure . Btw , good choice of name Frank 👍

Ydkiml · 15/02/2023 20:03

If he’s called Frankie as a baby , it will stick with him and would be very difficult for you to get people to call him his real name Frank !

xJoy · 15/02/2023 20:04

I like it! I'd put Francis on the bc, just as many people will say no just call him frank

CastleTower · 15/02/2023 20:06

Either Frank or Francis is fine on the birth certificate. Depends if you want to give him the possibility to call himself Francis when he's older.

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 15/02/2023 20:07

I’ve known a Frank all his life, he’s about 30 now. He was Frankie until he started high school then Frank to new people but still Frankie to the rest of us, which he was fine about. His wife often calls him Frankie.

Personally I don’t like Francis so would just use Frank.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 15/02/2023 20:07

I like it - I know a Francis, known as Frank, and he's lovely. Unusual but not unheard of, and you get used to it.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 15/02/2023 20:08

Francis on the bc

ZuckerwatterMaus · 15/02/2023 20:09

Ahhh, congratulations x I taught a teenage Frank and he has left me with such positive connections to the name . Francis is also nice , but has a totally different feel . I would put Frank on his birth certificate.

emma1103 · 15/02/2023 20:11

Congratulations! Have you considered Franklin, nn Frank?

Nannydoodles · 15/02/2023 20:11

Why would you put Francis on the BC if you want his name to be Frank?

JauntyRedShoes · 15/02/2023 20:12

Frank is a great name. Personally I would put it on the birth certificate. My nephew (20) is a Frank and was called Frankie when he was little, he introduces himself and prefers Frank now.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 15/02/2023 20:14

Francis or Frank both lovely and timeless

Cats23 · 15/02/2023 20:15

Also a Franklin (age 5) known as Frank though

Icannotdecideaboyname · 15/02/2023 20:15

@emma1103 thank you for the recommendation, we are not feeling Franklin though as it feels completely different to Frank.

Francis nn Frank

I don’t mind Frank for a baby, but I’d see if that or Frankie suits once he arrives

PacificCoastHighway · 16/02/2023 00:19

Have come across Franklyn (nn Frankie / Frank) which might be another option.

808Kate1 · 16/02/2023 00:22

Don't really like Frank - just makes me think of Frank Butcher, but Francis is such a beautiful name so I would put that on the certificate.

mathanxiety · 16/02/2023 00:23

Francis on BC.

Frankie as NN when little, and for as long as he likes it. Frank fine too if you want to use it. Francis is fine too for everyday use.

All versions are lovely imo.

Aquamarine1029 · 16/02/2023 00:26

Francis on the bc, absolutely.

DaveSpud · 16/02/2023 00:43

Francis is a wet name, don't do it to him.

Frank is cool!

Barleysugar86 · 16/02/2023 00:51

Frank on the birth certificate. It's a full name on it's own, you don't mean for him to be Francis, don't set him up for a lifetime of correcting people.

Frankie on a baby is very cute :)

ourflagmeansdeath · 16/02/2023 00:58

Just put Frank on the BC I say - I'm all for putting full names on BC but I think Frank in itself is a full name anyway. Francis IS nicer in my opinion, but it has a different sound to Frank and you'd have difficulty getting people to call him that. So Frank, and Frankie for NN I think! Frankie's adorable as a nickname, I love it. Congratulations for your baby boy!! X

junglemaze · 16/02/2023 00:59

Frankie all the way👌👌 love it,put Frank or Frankie on BC

DramaAlpaca · 16/02/2023 01:16

Francis is really nice, very classy. It's purely middle name territory for me personally as I really don't like any of the diminutives at all. Sorry.
