Thoughts on April?

Hello,

im just coming on here to see what everyone’s thoughts on the baby name, April. I have never met a fellow April, and find it one of the more uncommon of month names. I know lots of Mays, Junes, and even know a December.

I love the name for our baby girl, as mine and my partners birthdays are both in April, and thought it would be a lovely link to us both, also my maternal grandparents are both born born in April. I just can’t think of a middle name, partner likes Anne, but April Anne, AA, I’m not sure on the double initial, especially when the surname is a C, ACC.

However we have an Anne in the family on both sides, so don’t want to rule it out, I was thinking April Louanne as it would still have the Anne, but also tie back in with my own name.

Love it

MunsteadWood · 15/02/2023 17:06

I think April is a lovely name. Might she be born in April? (Not sure whether I think that'd be a good or bad thing for a child called April!)

Rover83 · 15/02/2023 17:06

I love it, but be prepared to be asked all the time if she was born in April

OffYouPopNow · 15/02/2023 17:09

There was an April in DCs primary school. The only one not little old lady age I’ve ever known. It’s nice.

I prefer April Anne to Louanne. Middle names really aren’t used very much at all. No one will bat an eye lid to the AA initials.

Nimbostratus100 · 15/02/2023 17:14

I love April or Avril, but wont everyone always assume she was born in April?

ÉireannachÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉ · 15/02/2023 17:15

Cute

SylvanianFrenemies · 15/02/2023 17:18

Love April.

If you are concerned about initials ALC is more of a problem than AAC, surely?

CloakAndTin · 15/02/2023 17:18

I have an April, so naturally I love the name. She's in her 30s now and she loves it too, but yes she does often get asked if she was born in April!

ZuckerwatterMaus · 15/02/2023 17:21

Lovely name . I work with a June and a previous poster’s comment had made me realise that I here never , ever wondered if she was born in June .

CuteCillian · 15/02/2023 17:21

April Brianne ? ABC are brilliant initials.

Twoinapod · 15/02/2023 17:27

The first thing that springs to mind is the case of little April Jones, but I think that’s just because it’s quite an unusual name to come across. I think if I met one that link would quickly disappear.

SheilaFentiman · 15/02/2023 17:29

I like it and know one - she was born in April, though!

Bronwen? Brianna? Briony? All nice middle names with it.

KirstenBlest · 15/02/2023 20:13

Not keen on it. Avril is worse.

CoffeeTaster · 15/02/2023 20:17

I met one little April about 10 years ago.
Asked her mum if she'd been born in April. Mum said.... No.... In a way that I knew she had the same question every single time she introduced her daughter and wished she'd chosen a different name

Luredbyapomegranate · 16/02/2023 00:05

It’s nice, but I’d only use it as a first name if she’s born in April, else she’ll spend the rest of her life explaining it, and she won’t thank you.

If she isn’t going to be an April baby, use it as a middle name. If you like the idea of Anne then maybe Susannah April, Marianne April, Rosanna April, etc (Louanne is awful, like something out of a bad country song, but Louise or Lois is nice - Lois April? )

Mumoftwoinprimary · 16/02/2023 00:31

I like the name but the idea of an April born in a month other than April feels really really wrong to me.

Viviennemary · 16/02/2023 00:33

I think it's quite a pretty name.

Stravaig · 16/02/2023 01:02

Showers.

DramaAlpaca · 16/02/2023 01:11

Not keen, sorry

ourflagmeansdeath · 16/02/2023 01:16

I like April a lot, and love the little tie-in to yours and your partner's birth months. Also don't stress about her having to be born in April, it's ridiculous and I'd actually divert from the name if that DID happen for fear of people thinking I only chose the name for that. There are plenty of winter born babies called Summer for example. Go for April no matter the birth time! And there are a lot of Anne alternatives you could use: Joanne, Dianne, Susanna, Julianna, Rosanna etc.

loupielou1 · 16/02/2023 01:17

Love that name xx

Hope551 · 16/02/2023 03:22

That's my name 🥰 I like it, I do get asked if I was born in the month (I was not) I was actually named after the character in teenage mutant ninja turtles that my brother was watching when my mum was pregnant 😂 only met someone with my name once.

ArmchairAnarchist2 · 16/02/2023 03:39

DN is April Louise. She wasn't born in that month. I also know two others, all are in their thirties.

romdowa · 16/02/2023 03:40

I know an April and an avril and I've never wondered when they were born

MissWings · 23/02/2023 13:41

My April is 12 and she was born In December. She has never once been asked if her birthday was in April. Bizarre as you probably would expect that, but no it’s never been an issue. It’s a name in its own right and I’m glad I picked it. She’s yet to meet another one her age.
