Baby is one week old
Love the name Teddy nn Ted
Can't decide 😕??
Anyone know a Teddy do they use it as teenagers adults etc

So go for it OP! There were no Teddy's about 17 years ago and people 'become' their names.

Mine is 6 foot tall - trust me, Teddy just suits him.

I was looking for your post. I always feel like it isn't really a Teddy thread until you've posted.

Ted, Ned and Teddy are well known diminutives for Edward..

They may be 'well known' but they are certainly not intuitive... unless it's Tedward or Nedward Grin

I think it's helpful when the name and nickname have the same initials.

where are you from, if you don't mind me asking?

you often seem baffled by standard diminutives.

Also, a second child is not a given. What happened if you tried and wasn't able/getting pregnant?

Some people struggle with secondary infertility, how would that affect the situation?

Do you think he would be satisfied that you had tried or would he consider splitting from you?

Mine is an Edward. He has stuck eith Teddy though. He’s 15 now and is very clear that he prefers Teddy to Edward. We call him Teddy or Ted interchangeably

Teddy is already a nickname/diminutive so it'd be a bit odd to have a nickname of that IMO.

Love the name as a diminutive though! Either for Edward or Theodore for a boy, or for Theodora for a girl.

And if you give him a 'proper' name then you can use Teddy or Ted interchangeably as his nickname which is even better.

I know a teen Ted, Theodore on bc and was Teddy as a baby.
They are perfectly happy with their name and never get any grief about it.

It's a lovely name, I know of four Teddy's born in the past couple of years, plus my bil is a Ted.

My DS is Edward, when he was a baby it was Teddy and now he's almost 6 he's Ted. There is another boy in his class called Teddy.

There's absolutely loads of baby Teddys- at the moment Teddy is 29th, Edward 25th and Theodore 11th. So by the time your baby is grown up Teddy won't sound unusual at all for a grown man

They aren't actually called Teddy as I noted.
I don't think Teddy sounds silly for a toddler.

I actually suspect that it soon won't sound odd for a teen.

I think teenagers are pretty brutal with each other about most things that they notice. Ted hasn't been a name to attract any attention though.

I love the name Teddy - if I'd had a boy, that's what he'd have been called. My grandad was Edward but known as Teddy throughout his life. My dad is also Edward, but he gets Eddie or Ted. None of my siblings have boys either, unless you count my sister's dog who's called - guess what - Teddy 😊

I have a Teddy but his full name is Theodore as when he is older he might want to use Theo. He goes by Ted or Teddy atm
