Expecting a baby girl and tossing the name Hazel around. Looking for opinions on the name ie, what vibe does it give off/associations?

Older siblings are Niamh & Eoin

Thanks!

Love it - it was on the list for DD. In fact, this is probably outing but 3yo DS liked it so much he told everyone the baby's name was Hazel for weeks (we went with something else in the end that had more of a nod to my ethnic heritage), and the response was unanimously positive. Much moreso than the response to her actual name, which is usually "sorry?" or occasionally "is that a name?" 😂🙄

Really lovely - warm, timeless and has lots of nice natural imagery associated with it (hazel trees/colour).

perfectly nice

Judgyjudgy · 13/02/2023 19:08

Love it

Very nice. I have two girls and only met Hazel one in six years of baby groups/school etc

So beautiful 😍 Wish I'd thought of it for my daughter!

Hazel is a beautiful name. 😀
To me I think of autumn colours and it sounds a nice heart warming name. It's a name I would put in your final short list as you are already thinking of it.

But whatever final name you do choose it will be special to you as it's your child.

I’m biased as I am currently feeding my 6 week old Hazel, but I love it 🙂

One of my favourite people is called Hazel. She’s in her 60s. She’s elegant, kind and wise, and that’s what the name says to me.
I also know a child Hazel and she’s a gentle soul. So I say, it’s a beautiful name.

Watership Down.
Beautiful.

My dd is 12 and is called Hazel. Haven't met another child called it. She's the sweetest little pet ever and the name suits her down to the ground. I've never regretted it for a minute.

Angelina1972 · 13/02/2023 21:42

Love it. I always wish I’d had twin girls I would have called Heidi & Hazel 😌😌

IsThePopeCatholic · 13/02/2023 21:47

No. It’s boring.

Hazel is very pretty and great for a grown woman too.

Ilovedthe70s · 14/02/2023 07:27

Pretty name, I think increasingly popular. I see 5 or 6 at grandchild’s primary school, 2 older ladies, 3 springer spaniels and several rabbits.

bobby81 · 14/02/2023 07:30

Love it. Have only known one & she's great.

BlueKaftan · 14/02/2023 07:33

It reminds me of an American t.v. show about a middle aged live in maid.

Love it. Wanted it for DD but DH vetoed!

I think of Watership Down. Beautiful book, lovely name.

Lunaloud · 15/02/2023 02:21

Like it, I know two 6yo Hazels.

Kokeshi123 · 15/02/2023 02:25

It's very nice, though it might become quite popular going forward! It fits with the current trend of nature names.
