I know they are currently popular which does not bother me just looking for an old name for our DS

I used to know a lovely old chap called Hiram. I think it's a great name.

Used to love Wilfred, but Boris Johnson ruined it for me!

Eric, Ivan, Ian and Alan are all great. Can't stand Alfie, Sidney, and loads of the others that are popular at the moment.

My favourite people were my grandparents. My grandads' names were: Alfie George and Bertie Douglas. We also have Fred, Stanley, John, Duncan and Wallace in the family.

Quite like Gareth, which I haven't heard used for a wee one for years.
Mark and Michael seemed so popular in the 70s/80s must be due a revival.

Also love Elijah although not sure that's an "old" name but it sounds historical/biblical to me. A dignified name.

Hamish isn't an old man name where I am in Scotland, it's perennially popular (for humans and dogs!) and I love it too.

Those sound like specifically American old fashioned names?

Not sure any of them except Walter have ever been common here.

@Widmerpool oops guess I've been outted somewhat.

I read the op as old fashioned names, which are currently popular as in the there's a trend for using vintage names.

I'd also like to add

Norman
Lorne
Melvin
Ralph
Bernard
Cecil
