DD2 due very soon and we can't decide between these two! What do you think?

Eliza. Not keen on Sadie.

PurpleReindeer2 · 09/02/2023 21:39

Eliza. 🥰

ladyforallseasons · 09/02/2023 21:46

Sadie is also a pet name/nickname for Sarah.....

Copperoliverbear · 09/02/2023 21:47

Sadie. X

IJustHadToLookHavingReadTheBook · 09/02/2023 21:53

Definitely Sadie. It's just the right side of quirky; unusual enough that you don't meet too many, but well known enough as to not be weird. It also always makes me think of a sort of arty, funky person.

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/02/2023 21:55

Sadie, but would probably go for Sarah nn Sadie (as it traditionally was) so she has a classic option.

Eliza is nice but a lot of El names and Elsie/Eliza/Elizabeths about

Rahrahrahraah · 09/02/2023 22:09

Both nice! There's a baby Sadie on my street and I wasn't keen at first but having met her I now really like it. Her parents are quite hipster. Eliza is a classic but doesn't seem too common.

Sadie. I don’t like Eliza, though I’m not sure why!

mathanxiety · 10/02/2023 04:34

Sadie

Eliza always sounds rather prim to me.

Sadie sounds like the name of a kickass sort of girl.

Wombat222 · 10/02/2023 08:56

I love Eliza! But like Sadie too and would never ever think it was a dog’s name!!

Mortima · 10/02/2023 10:47

Eliza - Sadie sounds a bit wet to me

KirstenBlest · 10/02/2023 11:29

Not keen on either Eliza or Sadie, but of the two would choose Sadie, because of the El- names being too popular.

Elizabeth or Sarah on BC?
I'd choose Elizabeth over Sarah, and shorten it to Bess.

BridieConvert · 10/02/2023 11:54

Sadie is lovely ☺️
Eliza is very harsh sounding to me, not sure why!

Roseyposeypudding · 10/02/2023 16:41

Sadie

Luckymonth · 10/02/2023 16:43

Eliza.

xprincessxjanetx · 10/02/2023 23:48

I prefer Sadie

Japanesejazz · 10/02/2023 23:55

Both lovely
my eldest daughters middle name is Eliza (she doesn’t like it!)

PinkElephantsInLemonade · 11/02/2023 08:28

In theory I would say Sadie, but the only one I've ever known was a bullying bitch and still is as an adult approaching forty.
Seems to be a common theme with the name according to this post, unless we're all referencing the same cow.

Bluevelvetsofa · 11/02/2023 13:59

Sadie every time.

StopFeckingFaffing · 11/02/2023 14:02

I love the name Eliza (would definitely be in my top 5 girls name)

Not keen on Sadie at all, wouldn't even be in my top 500!

Barleysugar86 · 11/02/2023 14:03

Sadie feels refreshing to me. Eliza sounds a bit upstairs downstairs.

Pemba · 11/02/2023 14:14

I do have to say that I think it's silly to tell a complete stranger that they shouldn't choose a particular name because you personally knew someone terrible who happened to have that name. I mean, come on! I get that your unpleasant experience means that you yourself have been put off that name, hmm OK, but to think that is a reason for a stranger miles away not to use it seems crazy.

This seems to happen a lot on the baby names threads. Or is that not what you're saying?

Personally if I'd previously loved a name and then met someone awful with that name I'd try not to let it put me off. I'd want to 'reclaim' the name and forget about the awful person. Easier if you don't see the awful person anymore I suppose. And there must equally be loads of lovely people with that name.
