Elizabeth

MaverickGooseGoose · 03/02/2023 20:53

Emma, classic

Tangerinie · 03/02/2023 20:56

Emma - I like the simplicity of it and I like the Jane Austen connection (and yes I know she isn't the most wonderful person and if I met her irl of probably not like her, but I like the way she is written). It also has a nice, mellow sound where Elizabeth can sound a bit prissy and and can sometimes sound harsh.

That said, I like them all

Tamtam86 · 03/02/2023 20:57

I like them all, great names.
My personal order of preference would be Emma, Anna, Elizabeth

HadEnoughOfBears · 03/02/2023 20:58

My preferred order would be Anna, Elizabeth, Emma.
I also like Eliza...

KirstenBlest · 03/02/2023 20:59

Emma. I like all three. Elizabeth will get shortened.

FlutterbButterfly · 03/02/2023 20:59

Elizabeth , almost endless diminutive, derivatives and nicknames!

Love Lizzie

Tangerinie · 03/02/2023 20:59

Sorry for typos;

And Anna can sometimes sound a bit harsh*
I'd probably not like her*

Zosime · 03/02/2023 21:03

Anna is lovely, but I think I'd choose Elizabeth because there are so many ways of shortening it, if the owner of the name wants to. I think Emma would be my last choice, because it's been so popular over the years. All lovely elegant classic names, though.

Ketzele · 03/02/2023 21:03

Anna

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 03/02/2023 21:03

Anna. Beautiful name.

Emmamoo89 · 03/02/2023 21:04

Emma

thickoozymudlongwavygrass · 03/02/2023 21:04

My name starts with an E.

If I were to choose Emma or Elizabeth and then have another daughter further down the line, I would have to rule out using another E name. Also, if I used Emma, I couldn't then use Anna and vice versa.

I generally like names less than 3 syllables in length but I make an exception for Elizabeth.

Any other short girl names that go with the ones I've listed..?

Amy?

Workawayxx · 03/02/2023 21:05

all lovely. I’d say Emma just pips the others. Elizabeth depends on what nickname you’d use. I like libby best and less keen on Liz, lizzy, Beth. It does give plenty of options though.

Twizbe · 03/02/2023 21:05

Elizabeth. A classic ageless name.

dizzydizzydizzy · 03/02/2023 21:08

I like all the names. Other possibilities - Sarah, Martha, Ruth, Suzaanna, Hannah, Molly, Jennifer, Kate

Workawayxx · 03/02/2023 21:09

A few random names in a similar vein:
Alice
Lucy
mary
grace
kate
louisa
sarah
holly
Erin

minnor · 03/02/2023 22:46

Anna is the nicest.

Elizabeth would be my second options purely because of the array of possible cute nicknames.

Emma always feel bland to me.

Jelly4444 · 03/02/2023 22:51
  1. Anna - simple, elegant and timeless.
  1. Elizabeth- classic and beautiful
  1. Emma- I love Emma too but I know far too many Emma's.
HeavenIsAHalfpipe · 03/02/2023 22:55

Emma. Beautiful classic name. Ageless and classy. Also, hasn't been used a lot for some years. So there won't be dozens of Emmas around her! Smile

alexdgr8 · 03/02/2023 22:56

Elizabeth.

in a class of its own.

MajorCarolDanvers · 03/02/2023 22:57

All three are beautiful, classics that have stood the test of time.

Elizabeth has the edge for me. I've always loved it.

HeavenIsAHalfpipe · 03/02/2023 22:58

Elizabeth is a lovely name, and it has lots of mileage, Liz, Lizzie, Beth, Libby, Betty, Bet etc etc etc. BUT, as has been said, she will rarely be called Elizabeth. It will ALWAYS be shortened.

Luredbyapomegranate · 03/02/2023 23:29

Emma

They are all nice but it’s the least overused, also it’s sparkier. Anna and Elizabeth while lovely are v biblical.
