Help! Name for second twin girl

Havifus · 28/01/2023 20:28

Hi all,

I am 30 weeks pregnant with twin girls. One of which will be called Irena - that’s non negotiable.

I have a toddler boy called Raphael.

Children have a Persian/Burmese hertitage and will more than likely have olive skin, dark hair and eyes. My boy really does.

please help me pick a name for my second twin. At the moment we are edging towards Yasmin due to its person nature. Outing to our surname but its Persian and 4 syllables.

love biblical names!!

Mitra & Hita were Persian sisters I knew when young. There are a lot of fab female Persian names.

HuntingoftheSnark · 28/01/2023 20:55

Esther

PritiPatelsMaker · 28/01/2023 22:01

I think Irena and Yasmin go beautifully together Wink

Zola1 · 28/01/2023 22:04

I absolutely love the name Faeza, I think it is beautiful. I work with an adult called Faeza and she is fierce and impressive, I have met a 3 year old Faeza and it suited her too. Her mum called her Faezy for short and it was very cute.

Havifus · 28/01/2023 22:05

Hi, thank you so much for your replies. I too like Jasmine however I love Yasmin for its Persian background.

i wouldn’t mind opinions on the rest of our list. We both don’t agree in some way on these others compared to Yasmin

Imani
Renee (Ren)
Alia
Seren

Seren came to my head before I saw the rest of your list.

My DD went to nursery with a Seren and she's the only Seren I've met.

HJ40 · 28/01/2023 22:18

I wouldn't use Seren or Renee with Irena, but too similar.

CrescentMoons · 28/01/2023 22:23

Irena and Zahra

ANewDayDawned · 28/01/2023 22:25

Mariam
Sasha
Leila
Zara
Ariana

Yasmin is beautiful.

Seren is fairly common here but mostly for the Welsh connection I think.

Redjumperoo · 28/01/2023 22:31

Yasmin goes beautifully with your other names. Really lovely combination of sibling names imo. I do also like Seren but not quite as much as Yasmin.

ANewDayDawned · 28/01/2023 22:32

Oh misread that Yasmin was the definite name, if it's Irena I'd go for Sasha or Zahra,

WetBandits · 28/01/2023 22:34

Yasmin is gorgeous and goes perfectly with Irena and Raphael 🥰

Is the spelling of Irena non-negotiable or would you consider Irina?

Mossstitch · 28/01/2023 22:34

Orla

Havifus · 28/01/2023 22:38

Thank you all so much. Yasmin is a beautiful name. For us it’s just not as amazing as the other 2 names but maybe because the other two are sentimental. Irena is after my wonderful nanny Irene so I’d like to keep the spelling close to her name. Yasmin also means gift from god in Persian and she really is a gift as we were informed we were infertile 1 week before I found out I was pregnant.

Oh wow, congratulations!

Anotheranonymousname · 28/01/2023 23:10

How is Irena pronounced? Ear-reen-uh? Ear-ren-uh? Eye-reen-uh? Eye-ren-uh?

I'd avoid Seren or Renee because of the ren sound and wouldn't choose the same initial letter for twins so that would rule out Imani.

Yasmin is lovely. Other names that might fit include Ana, Ava, Esther, Hana, Leila, Mariam (Miriam), Suri and Zara.

Irena is still just as lovely! It’s just that it autocorrected to ‘Irene’ and ‘items’ when I typed it so you might find that annoying.

Another couple of names that fit your criteria and go really nicely with your other names are Soraya and Shirin Smile

Havifus · 28/01/2023 23:15

@Anotheranonymousname you’re right about the “ren” part and have put into words why it just wouldn’t fit together.

Also the I in Imani and Irena doesn’t appeal to me. Actually this thread is really cementing Yasmin for me. This is great!

Irena is I-reen-ah. So just like Irene but ending in an Ah. Some lovely names on here and will show my partner
