Are they too similar / samey as a sibling set?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

They sound fine

I think Mila is much more faddy than Orlagh though

xprincessxjanetx · 27/01/2023 22:39

They sounds nice together to me.

SemperIdem · 27/01/2023 23:36

I don’t like how they sound together

Twoinapod · 28/01/2023 00:28

They sound fine. I don’t think people should worry so much about how names sound together anyway. They’re children for a short time and then they have their own lives. I think giving them nice names is better than matching with a sibling

MrsBungle · 28/01/2023 00:31

I think they sound nice together.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 28/01/2023 00:34

Mila is an ugly sound. (Mealer.) It's not good with Orlagh either unfortunately.

AnotherNameChangeYes · 28/01/2023 01:37

Really dislike Mila, it’s one of these faddy nothingy names that’s just a noise. Like a toddler trying to say Amelia. But anyway, I guess they go.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 28/01/2023 14:14

I hate the spelling of Orlagh. Orla is much better, and a more authentic Irish spelling.

the two names sound fine together though.

BridieConvert · 28/01/2023 18:02

Both lovely names :)

BodGaoithe · 28/01/2023 18:05

If you’re going with the longer spelling of Orla, Orlaith looks a bit nicer I feel. Or go the whole hog with Órfhlaith, haha!

BuffaloCauliflower · 28/01/2023 18:09

I think they sound really odd together. One Irish, one Russian. They make no sense as a set to me.

pairofrollerskates · 28/01/2023 18:12

On what planet are Mila and Mealer homophones? @halfsiesonapotnoodle

I think 'meelah' would be the most common pronunciation (and hence perhaps too similar to Orlagh).
I like both names though also prefer the Orla spelling.

🙄Mila rhymes with dealer
Mealer rhymes with dealer
They are exactly the same sound.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 28/01/2023 18:57

oh good. it's been weeks since a nice rhotic/non-rhotic row.
