Baby names
Florence or Selene… ?!
Londonmama85 · 24/01/2023 20:57
Hello! I’m pregnant with my first DD and already thinking about names (why is it so difficult to choose a name!?! 🙈) Anyway, these seem to be my two favourites atm. Although very different, I love them both.
I love the meaning of Selene and really like how it sounds (also like that it isn’t overly used!) Although more popular, I love how classic a name Florence is. I think it’s so pretty.
What do you all think? Thank you 😊

Love Selene.
Florence is ok but likely to become Flo or Florrie imo.
Selene is beautiful.

Florence. Selene is awful, unless you mean Céline.
Selina is better.

Yes I prefer Selina.
I wouldn't shorten Florence to a nickname

Yes, Selene as in Celine. It’s the Greek spelling which also has a different meaning to Celine.

Either name is very attractivea, Selene has a lovely unusual edge to it, though, and is less common than Florence. Selena is a nice variant but might get confused with Serena of course.

As much as I tried to shorter Florence it hasn't happened and she is full Florence to everyone.
Suzi888 · 25/01/2023 04:09
It will be Flo. Not a fan of Florence. I tho k Selene would be shortened too.
Londonmama85 · 25/01/2023 21:01
Thanks everyone! Think I’m leaning towards Florence ❤️

Assuming you are saying it Sell-ee-nee then Selene all the way - beautiful strong name
But if you are saying it Celine as in Dion then Florence - it’s a bit twee for me, but it’s alright
