Full names for NN Izzy?

Hello,

I adore the nickname Izzy, I think it’s beautiful and sweet, but defiantly not a stand alone name. I am aware of my daughter growing up, getting a job, and formal forms etc. They are adults longer than children and teenagers . I would adore for her to have a more stand alone name, a full flushed name.

I love the name Iris, it has always been an favourite of mine, and thought that it would be a lovely name with the nn Izzy. I am not a fan of Isabelle/a, or any other variant spelling, so can not think of any other names as that came up in previous forums.

I would just like to know what your thoughts are on this, and any name suggestions welcome, thank you.

Twin brother is named Evan August. (:

Iris is a lovely name. Have you considered Elizabeth or Eliza?

Sorry just seen you don't like Grin

Definitely Eliza! Eliza and Evan is cute!

Anything with -is or -is could in theory work. I think Iris is too much of a stretch.

Isadora also a good shout. Charlize, Giselle, Gisela, Arizona, Beatriz (Spanish?) Liza, Isolde, Ismene.

Keziah potentially…Louisa?

You end up with nicknames that are completely different to name on birth certificate. I don’t get Izzy from Iris but you could tell everybody she’s Izzy and put Iris on birth certificate but I’m sure lots will assume her name is Isabel. I just don’t see the point in doing that though but if it works for you do it.

I know an Indigo, nickname Izzy

Whatnextarghhhhhh · 20/01/2023 16:01

She will spend her whole life explaining that her name isn’t Isabelle.

NoSquirrels · 20/01/2023 16:09

Iris is lovely, and goes with Evan. I wouldn’t use the nn Izzy for Iris, though. Because Iris is beautiful just as it is.

If you don’t want Isobel/Isabelle/Isabella then I think Isadora is the only other viable longer name that naturally shortens to Izzy. And Isadora is not as nice as Iris, in my opinion.

NoSquirrels · 20/01/2023 16:16

The problem with Iris to Izzy is that Iris has an ‘iss’ sound and Izzy is a ‘z’ sound - they’re not interchangeable in the pronunciation.

Inez, I read a book as a child with a character named this.
