Hi again. I had posted previously about thoughts on names for my twins as my DP and I had been going back and forth on middle names. We finally found one that we both can agree on and I want to make sure it sounds alright to other ears
Eleni Willow. Nn would be Leni
I know that she may run into pronunciation issues, I am just verifying that the first and middle names "flow" well as that was the issue we were running into previously

Don't could on the nn - these things tend to happen naturally and can change through time.

I don't know why parents pick nicknames, it's such a shame, let them have a full name

ofwarren · 13/01/2023 22:59

I think they sound fine together

ZuckerwatterMaus · 13/01/2023 23:00

Sounds fine to me .

UsingChangeofName · 13/01/2023 23:02

I'm not sure how to say 'Eleni' , myself.
However, I don't think middle names have to 'flow' as such. They are only used at your Birth announcement, Christening (if you have one), graduations, wedding, and (if Porridge is right) when you are being sentenced in court.

So, if you like them both, then they are fine.

my dd1 is called her full name at school and about half the time at home as would this dd. people create their own nicknames for their children, grandchildren, friends, pets, etc. i was just stating what dp and i would call her as a nickname, not all the time, your comment seems a bit over reactive. nicknames are for fun!

that is true! this is just what dp and i thought was cute and figured that we specifically would be calling her. i was mostly putting this out there to possibly help others with the pronunciation of Eleni

this is a good point. Eleni is pronounced -eh-LEN-ee 😊

It sounds fine, but try Eleni with the surname cos middle names aren't used very often.
Leni/Len as a diminutive might help people get the pronunciation right. The tendency in England is to stress the first syllable so they might say Elleny. She might get people saying it as Elaina too.

Needmorelego · 14/01/2023 10:59

Why don't you just name her Leni?

Luredbyapomegranate · 15/01/2023 09:03

I don’t think they go especially well

But the main thing is she may well end up Ellie, so you have to be happy with that

PurpleishDahlia · 15/01/2023 09:06

They go great together OP.
ps. I love Eleni, it is my mum's name :)

YukoandHiro · 15/01/2023 09:08

Hmmm it as nice name but I think she'll get called "Eh-lay-nee" a lot as that's how it reads to me.
And I thought "Leni" was pronounced "lay-nee"

Hermanfromguesswho · 15/01/2023 09:08

I think it’ll be pronounced Eh lay nee with that spelling. If you want her nickname to be Lennie can you double the n so it is more obviously Lennie rather than Lay nee?
Just to throw a spanner in the works, I think Eh lay nee Willow flows well but Eh len nee Willow is a bit clunky 😬

Eastereggsboxedupready · 15/01/2023 09:10

Just use Leni...

Candleabra · 15/01/2023 09:11

I think it flows ok, but wouldn’t have known how to pronounce Eleni
