Joel is ok but will get said as Jole, Jo-ul and Jo-elle.
Jenson will get called Jens, and I think it's too linked to an age-group.
Leo is nice but popular.

ohyouknowwhatshername · 08/01/2023 09:28

I know a gorgeous 2 year old Joel and I think it's a great name.

KirstenBlest · 08/01/2023 09:38

I like it too. I forgot to say that some people will think he's Joe.

Look at darkgreener and ONS for the stats, if popularity is an issue.

Try the name with the surname, without a middle name.
Leo Owens, Joel Cole and Jenson Benson might not be the best combinations.

SallyWD · 08/01/2023 09:38

I really like Joel and Leo. Not keen on Jenson.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 08/01/2023 09:39

Love it - but that’s probably because it’s the name of one of my favourite people 😊

Flatandhappy · 08/01/2023 09:40

Love it. There were a couple in my DS’ class, now early 20’s.

WinterFoxes · 08/01/2023 09:40

Joel is a nice name.

Leo is good but popular. Maybe Leon?

Not sure about Jensen.

Startwithamimosa · 08/01/2023 09:40

I like Joel. I like Leo, but too many people have this name now

AnotherNameChangeYes · 08/01/2023 10:10

I like Joel, I know a 9 year old one. Can’t stand Jenson it’s like some bad 80s name. Like Leo a lot, it’s quite popular.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 08/01/2023 10:22

I like Joel. Leo is too popular atm and Jenson a bit chavvy.

Eden94 · 08/01/2023 16:49

I think theres going to be a rise in babies named joel in the next year due to the tv show the last of us starting in a week starring pedro pascal, just so you know.

Cuppasoupmonster · 08/01/2023 16:58

Popularity doesn’t bother me at all, just needs to be the right name!

Joel is a great name! ☺️

MissyB1 · 08/01/2023 17:13

Joel is lovely- but I’m biased as my ds is a Joel 😊 he’s in his late 20s though.

timoteigirl · 08/01/2023 17:13

Joel is great, I don't understand why boring names such as Joshua can be more popular than Joel!

Jenson - or Jensen?
Leo - way too common.

Ooh! Does he like it?

Cuppasoupmonster · 08/01/2023 17:16

Yes I’m not too keen on most names than end in a vowel for boys for some reason, bar Leo!

Beamur · 08/01/2023 17:16

Joel is nice. I know a couple - one mid teens, one late 20's.
Leo is ok. Not keen on Jensen - but I don't really like surname type first names but lots of people do.

MissyB1 · 08/01/2023 17:48

Cuppasoupmonster · 08/01/2023 17:15

Ooh! Does he like it?

Yes he has always loved his name and he only knows one other.

Twizbe · 08/01/2023 17:51

I know a Joel but they say it Jo-el.

I like it though

RambamThankyouMam · 08/01/2023 17:51

I love Joel.

Really nice name.

WildCherryBlossom · 08/01/2023 20:16

I love Joel! I know Joels in their 60's, 50's snd 20's, American, French & British do for me it's not linked to a particular demographic at all. It's a great name and not very used in the U.K. currently.

Really stands out as the best in your shortlist!

timoteigirl · 08/01/2023 20:18

Twizbe · 08/01/2023 17:51

I know a Joel but they say it Jo-el.

I like it though

What other way would there be then? As one syllable? Only ever heard of Jo-el

KirstenBlest · 08/01/2023 20:26

@timoteigirl , as I pp, people say it as Jole, Jo-ul and others say it as Jo-elle.
There was a thread recently and the general consensus IIRC was that most posters said it as Joe-ul

tortoisemum · 08/01/2023 20:27

My husband is Joel and my eldest son 💙💙 We love it!
