Hoping for a sibling for DD very soon. We have had a boys name picked out since before DD but struggled a lot with girls names (Her name is Thea).

I really like Savannah, but is it a bit naff? Middle name would be Isobel.

I prefer Susannah. The likelihood of it shortening to Sav would put me off.

Silentsalamander · 06/01/2023 20:42

He’s a good man savannah!

Rustyhandlebars · 06/01/2023 20:45

Lovely name! Will be shortened, so could be shortened to Vanna?

MrsSkylerWhite · 06/01/2023 20:46

Very pretty. I have a fairly long name, no-one has ever shortened it 🤷‍♀️

AHelpfulHand · 06/01/2023 20:46

It was on my shortlist for dd.

it’s an under used name and I still love it

GoodbyeLondon · 06/01/2023 20:54

I'm not mad on it...it is a lot like Sienna which I am also (irrationally) not a fan of. It is fine though and certainly not a bad name.

I might not use it with Isobel as I can't say them together without a bit of effort. Think there are other middle name options which would flow better. Or if Isobel is set in stone you could choose a different first name

welshpolarbear · 06/01/2023 20:58

I love it but agree it doesn't really flow with Isobel.

I know one Savannah and I think she gets called Vanna by friends a lot.

Twoinapod · 07/01/2023 06:49

It already seems dated to me but maybe it depends on area. Around 5–10 years ago there was a huge influx of Savannahs, Siennas, Sierras and similar names around where I live

RuthW · 07/01/2023 09:18

Savannah Isobel is lovely.

BridgeOverTheRiverWye · 07/01/2023 09:44

@Twoinapod on another thread claimed she lived in a Welsh-speaking household in a Wales. It's that part of Wales thats teeming with Savannahs, Siennas and Sierras aged about 10. The post itself was deleted, but if you hear of a baby called Meredith nn Miffy before long, you'll know which MNer is her mother.

Twoinapod · 07/01/2023 11:24

@BridgeOverTheRiverWye im unsure why the hostility? Those sort of names are quite popular in that age range. As are names like Harry Ethan and Niamh. I’m unsure why you’re getting bent out of shape.

LulooLemon · 07/01/2023 13:34

Savannah is ok.

I prefer Anna though, which has more timeless appeal for me.

Snippit · 07/01/2023 13:42

Lovely name, you’ll know when she’s born if it suits her. Sounds strange but we got down to 2 names, when our daughter was born we knew immediately which one suited her.

Sienna Millers sister is called Savannah, beautiful strong ladies.

FayCarew · 07/01/2023 18:58

@Snippit , the celebrity association doesn't automatically make the name beautiful and strong.

Bournetilly · 07/01/2023 20:42

I hate it sorry. Isobel is lovely though.

Cakecakecheese · 07/01/2023 21:50

I know a Savannah, everyone calls her Sav. It's also the name of cider they used to sell in Nandos.

Individewl · 07/01/2023 21:56

I like Savannah could be shortened to Anna as NN.

As an alternative I think Hannah is a lovely name.

DurdleSnore · 08/01/2023 08:02

I prefer Isobel Savannah. Thea and Isobel.

RambamThankyouMam · 08/01/2023 18:20

Horrible name. Colonial undertones.

Lacienay · 15/01/2023 13:02

It’s ok but I don’t think Savannah and Isobel go very well together.
Also, spelling wise Isabelle is much nicer.
