DH loves Matilda which I also like but not sure it is ‘the one’.

My top name at the moment is Bonnie but also like:

Skye
Heidi
Gabriella
Cordelia (firm no though from DH 😩)

Please help.. which is your favourite?

Matilda is nice enough. It is very popular in my area though, they are everywhere, as well as all the Tilly's as full names.

I think Bonnie is cute on a baby, young child but it's not a name I would like to have as an adult. It's a bit twee

I feel the same about Skye, it seems a very young name, not really suited to your average middle aged woman. It seems a bit faddy too

Heidi I like

I also like Gabriella though not so keen on Gabby and there are two in dds nursery (3 year olds)

I love Cordelia NN Cordy. Cordelia being my favourite isn't helpful to you though is it given your husband says no.

Second choice is Heidi

jumperoozles · 27/12/2022 20:40

Thank you @17caterpillars1mouse there’s a part of me that’s hoping he might change his mind on Cordelia - he says he’s not keen on the potential nicknames.

My favourite is Gabriella. I'm not keen on Skye or Bonnie. To me, they're nice for young children but not for an adult.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 27/12/2022 20:42

I know they're not on your list but I love the names Marnie, Ella and Hattie

MissyB1 · 27/12/2022 20:44

The problem with Gabriella is she will be Gabby, which makes me think of Gobby!

Matilda is ok but very popular.
Heidi is fine.
shame he doesn’t like Cordelia, I would shorten it to Delia.

mumma2oneDD · 27/12/2022 20:55

@jumperoozles my DH absolutely loved Matilda too and suggested it as his favourite girls name about 4 years prior to us actually being pregnant. I said I liked but didn't want to call our daughter that when we were finally pregnant.

Our 15 month old daughter is called... you guessed it, Matilda! And surprisingly, in the past 15 months we've only met 1 other Matilda and there's no other Matilda's at her nursery either.

Mumofgirls2017 · 28/12/2022 06:14

Have to say Matilda is my favourite! But also like Skye and Heidi

MerryChristmasTree · 28/12/2022 10:41

Not a big fan of Matilda personally but it’s very popular, there were a couple of years where I felt like every baby was a Matilda, and there are Tilly’s all over the place.

I love Cordelia, Heidi is nice although becoming more popular now. I like Skye and Gabriella.

KirstenBlest · 28/12/2022 15:49

Matilda - it's been popular for quite a while but not as wildly overused as some names. Bit too long, will be Mat, Tilly or Tilda
Bonnie - seems like a nickname or diminutive, but it's ok
Skye - makes me think of a fluffy white dog
Heidi - fine
Gabriella - far too long. Will be Gabby or Ella
Cordelia (firm no though from DH 😩) - nice

Figgypudding123 · 28/12/2022 16:49

Heidi is lovely

Luredbyapomegranate · 29/12/2022 22:32

Really like Cordelia, but that’s not much help..

I like Matilda but there are SO many

Gabriella is OK

Bonnie is sweet but very little girly, I know a Scottish Isabella nn Bonnie (Bonnie Bella I think it started as), so maybe as a nn for something more grown up

Skye and Heidi are too cheesy

Cecilia
Marina
Maria
Abriella
Estella
Zoe

might be others

user1492757084 · 30/12/2022 14:44

Skye, Matilda, Gabriella and Bonnie are my faves.

Skye Matilda
Matilda Jane
Gabriella Charlotte
Bonnie Eloise

jumperoozles · 30/12/2022 15:47

Thanks everyone!

So DH has compromised on Matilda as a middle name so we are thinking either

Bonnie Matilda
or
Heidi Matilda
or
Charlotte Matilda (Lottie? Thanks to @user1492757084 who inspired Charlotte as an option!)

Heidi

goldenfoliage · 31/12/2022 10:07

I like Charlotte Matilda, but it seems like combo that may be more on common side.
I'm not fan of Bonnie and Heidi.

I would choose Charlotte Matilda.

Consufed · 31/12/2022 11:46

I like Skye and Cordelia, and quite like Gabriella but not Gaby.

Coralie
Seraphina
Melissa

Of the most recent three, Heidi Matilda.
