This is very similar to my name list (DS five weeks) so I have opinions!
Freddie - overused and not a full name
Henry - I like it but didn't go for it as no real nicknames and sounds a bit young as an adult
Milo - dog's name (sorry!)
Theodore - cute
Jack - lovely and underused now. Classic and simple
Arlo - a bit try hard/ off the moment
Kit - cute but would use the full Christopher and then shorten
James - lovely, similar thoughts to Jack but more formal (not a bad thing)
Liam - feels a bit 90s to me
Sebastian - I like this and the shortenings
Grayson - don't like, too American
Leonardo - too much, would Leonard be a possibility?
Julian - this is a nice underused classic. Similar vibe to Sebastian but less common
Orlando- as Leonardo
Conrad - nice, recognisable but uncommon
Myles - I would spell it Miles. I like it and not too common
Alfred- I'd go for this if you like Freddie. Quite a lot of Alfie/Freddie etc around though
Arthur- I like this
Oscar - this too

TheBirdintheCave · 16/12/2022 11:46

Cut Grayson and expand the diminutives to their full versions and this is a good list.

Julian is my favourite.

MerryChristmasToYou · 16/12/2022 11:46

Freddie - overused
Henry - ok
Milo - too current. Milky drink
Theodore - overused. I don't like it at all
Jack - overused but ok
Arlo - too current
Kit- too current
James- overused, but I really like it
Liam - only if irish.
Sebastian - popular. I don't like it at all
Grayson - Gracie for short? I don't like it at all
Leonardo - only if italian. Leo is ok
Julian - I don't like it at all
Orlando - a bit long. Lando is speeding up in popularity
Conrad - ok
Myles - I like Miles
Alfred - Will be Alfie or Freddie. Not keen.
Arthur - overpopular
Oscar - not keen

Henry
Julian
Theodore

MerryChristmasToYou · 16/12/2022 12:32

@Overoptimistix , Jack - lovely and underused now. Classic and simple
It's #13 top name in England & Wales. It's probably been given to 100,000 boys over the past 25 years

Overoptimistix · 16/12/2022 13:27

@MerryChristmasToYou you're absolutely right - I didn't really mean underused, more that it felt like every other little boy was called Jack at one point! Now that there is such a breadth of boys names, it seems less well used to me.

One that wasn't even on the list until the last couple of weeks! Dominic

MerryChristmasToYou · 16/12/2022 13:36

@Overoptimistix , I think that nearly every couple I know has a Jack, Harry or Noah.

farquard · 16/12/2022 15:01

So if I was making a shortlist of your list this would be it

Freddie (maybe nn for Alfred?)
Milo
Jack
James
Sebastian
Grayson
Orlando
Arthur

staybyyou · 16/12/2022 15:14

Henry & Julian are my favourites

Pictograph · 16/12/2022 15:16

My favourites are James and Sebastian. Least favourites are Milo, Arlo and Grayson.

Luredbyapomegranate · 16/12/2022 15:22

I’d go for Julian - or Julius which I like better, 2nd choice Sebastian.

There are lots of nice names on your list, but other than Liam, Grayson and Conrad, which are a bit grim, and Orlando which is nice but a bit full on, they are all done to death.

blondie87 · 16/12/2022 17:08

Miles spelt this way
Kit
Henry
Arthur

ladywithnomanors · 16/12/2022 17:09

James and Henry are my favourites

Purplemagnolias · 16/12/2022 18:34

Jack - lovely and underused now.

There are hundreds of thousands of Jacks born during the past 20 years! It's sooo overused and dull!

Purplemagnolias · 16/12/2022 18:35

I only like Conrad and Julian.

icegoose · 16/12/2022 18:36

You have good taste in my eyes OP, I went with two of your choices for ds, all be it 14 years ago.

Gingersnappy · 16/12/2022 21:48

From your list, I like
Miles
Arlo
Myles

Gingersnappy · 16/12/2022 21:48

*Milo

MissyB1 · 16/12/2022 22:02

From your list I only like Julian and Conrad. Other suggestions;
Conal
Fraser
Jonah
Remy
Joel
Patrick

toastofthetown · 16/12/2022 22:04

Freddie - dull and overused
Henry - too popular for my tastes, but I like Henry
Milo - very trendy at the moment
Theodore - so popular right now
Jack - dull and overused
Arlo - extremely trendy
Kit - I don’t like it as a full name and I don’t like anything it’s short for either
James - dull but classic (in a way Freddie and Jack aren’t)
Liam - feels pretty dated, but fine
Sebastian - quite nice, if overused
Grayson - very trendy right now
Leonardo - not a fan of Leonardo and Leo is the inevitable nickname which is dull and overused
Julian - always feels like a middle aged man’s name to me
Orlando - love Orlando, easily my favourite from your list
Conrad - not a favourite of mine, but it’s a solid name
Myles - I prefer the Miles spelling
Alfred - Freddie would work as a nickname but I can’t say I like it
Arthur - nice but so very popular
Oscar - feeling very tired now. It’s coming down from a peak in popularly
