lol

it has just occured to me that she might be a MNetter and there can't be many people there with that combination of names.

probably better not to diclose her subject and year of graduation, I think...

Catriona

The way everyone says it here, it's A-ley. Emphasis on the Eh part.

And they said 'rosh-sheen' and in the Republic it is 'roh-jean'.

We are in the West, in Argyll, Cowal and Bute.

It is always interesting the differences between the names that are popular here (scotland) and the rest of the country. I had three boys so never got to use my girl shortlist; Jeannie, agnes, isabella, jessie, and elspeth, all grannie or G.Grannie names. Round here (v.middle class, wee town) the following names are pop. ATM in the school and nursery Cara(3), lots of Eilidh, Morven, Iona, skye, Kirsty. None of the Granny type names seem to have appeared as yet and most girls seem to be called Hannah ,Chloe, Emma etc. just like in England. I do know an Alison aged 3 same as me(aged 40). The most unusual name I ever came across was a girl at school called CLOUDBERRY, which I thought daft at the time but now rather like. I also met sisters called (I think) Saffron, Willow, Juniper?, and it might have been Heather. No to Bonnie!
