i have a reli called MORVEN i think it's a lovely name

RipMacWinkle · 05/02/2008 20:30

Have worked with both an Innes (boy) and Morven (gorgeous girl) and do like both names.

Isn't it funny how you're influenced by those you've met with the same names?

expat - funny when we were considering Eilidh it was the Ailidh spelling I looked at. I've only ever heard of one girl with that spelling. But we are planning to have another baby so never say never, your chat is reminding my why I love the name....

oh pruni i love you! you spelt dd2s name right

no one ever does

giggly · 06/02/2008 20:13

Expat, Kaye Adams youngest daughter is called Bonnie, I think it is pretty cute.We have a few Eilidh's about all spelt different. The island naming has been really popular over the last few years so no doubt schools will be full of Lewis's, Arran's etc in the forthcoming years.

I like them though , my current favourite is Cora (Irish) and Isla. I never can think of boys names that I like enough, here's hoping the next is a girl to.

expatinscotland · 06/02/2008 20:14

who is Kaye Adams?

i still think it's a naff forename.

kirstie is better .

expatinscotland · 06/02/2008 20:15

A boy called Struan is in love with DD1 just now.

goldfish17 · 06/02/2008 20:27

I would recommend names that are straightforward to spell, mine isn't and it bugs me when folk get it wrong! My kids have got lovely normal names as a result.
My name's not really goldfish17, you understand.

giggly · 06/02/2008 22:12

Scottish journalist, she used to do Loose Women on TV but stopped when aforementioned Bonnie was born. Kirsty is great it is my oldest niece's name.

I know Innes is a boys name, but I like it as a girls name, like Inez. It means Island so I reckon it could be used for girls.

FillyjonkisCALM · 07/02/2008 17:52

I really like

morag

eidlidh

agnes (is that REALLY scottish?)

Morag is possibility for middle name for baby #3...

FillyjonkisCALM · 07/02/2008 17:54

hang on then how DO you say Eilidh?

I thought it was Eh-lee . Mainly because I knew someone (from Edinburgh) who called her dd that, and thought she would probably be in a position to know...am I wrong?

sweetkitty · 07/02/2008 17:56

I thought it was more like A-lee, I know someone with an Ailey who spelt it like that as she thought the Gaelic would be too difficult.

I really like it but think it is too close to Abbie (other DDs name)
