Brother for Freya?

Please help us choose a name for our baby boy due in less than 3 weeks. We're English but live in Scotland (central belt), and already have a daughter called Freya. Surname is one syllable.

Here's our current list:

Laurence/Lawrence (nn Laurie or Lars)
Alexander (likely nn Alex - there's already a Sandy in the family and I'm not keen on Al or Xander)
Torsten
James
Rowan
Angus
Louis (family name, but bit put off by royal associations)

I love Rowan and it’s is my favourite of those and think it goes nicely with Freya. I quite like Laurie too.

Not sure about Torsten but the rest are nice names too.

I’d go for Angus, it feels like more of a classic with Freya, but I like all your other names apart from Torsten.

They're all great names except Torsten, which is disgusting. Sounds like a Scottish person saying "toasting".

Rowan or Lars, I prefer Lars as a name in its own right rather than as a nickname.

Thanks, all - interesting to see that the only one to really divide opinion is Torsten! Pleased to see a lot of love for Lawrence and Rowan as they are probably my favourites.Thank you also for the further suggestions - I particularly like Magnus (though DH not keen, in case he ends up not particularly big/tall!) and Tristan.

For those who like Lars, would you pronounce it as written (LarZ) or as the Swedes do (LarSH)? I prefer the latter but concerned it'll seem forced (especially alongside Freya) as we don't have a family connection to Scandinavia, although we did live in Sweden for a year when we were young(er).

For Laurie, would you pronounce it as Law-rie, or more like Lorry? (especially keen to hear responses from Scots)

I'd pronounce Laurie the same as Lorry

I would personally pronounce Lars as Lara and Laurie as Lorry.

Rowan. If I'd had a girl, she would have been Freya, and my top boy's name was Rowan (didn't end up using it and have regretted it for 15 years!)

I know siblings Freya and Rowan and it's a great set.

Laurence/Laurie was my boy name so I love that too!

Torsten is also great match. I like Lars but it would have to be pronounced Larz, no one would expect Larsh in the UK.
