Aurora + Aura

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Aurora as I love the meaning but dislike the sound in some accents (in others it's nice).

But for some reason I couldn't stop thinking about it this week.

Opinions on Aurora?

I also stumbled across Aura while googling and somehow like it but DH would never go for it (even though he does like Laura).

I've considered Aurelia but even though it's pretty I just don't love it.

I really liked Aurora, but now it seems bit 2000s the more as years go. It's also hard to pronounce.

I think Aurora and Aurelia are both quite nice, though there have been / are a lot of them so they perhaps have a Disney princess vibe these days. Aura sounds like you are woo woo, or possibly the name of a home heating app.

Aurora is an excellent timeless name but I think native English speakers cannot pronounce it. Would it bother you?

I like it more than Aura. Aura could be perceived as a spiritual name like Zen etc.

Absolutely love love love both Aurora and Aurelia. Would make a great pair of names for 2 sisters imho.

Also like Aura but not as much. I believe the actress Louisa Lytton from Eastenders named her daughter that recently.

Alternatives I also like are Alma, Amara and Elara.

Focal seizures are called auras, they’re when part of your brain has a seizure. They suck.

Aurora is a lovely name.

Thanks! You reminded me of my love for Anneliese. It will be so hard to choose a girls name! For a boy our list is pretty much set only that I have one name to add to it that I will ask about later (Tristan).

Where I live Aura is short for Aurelia and pronounced “Ow-rah”.

Like Aurora. And Aurelia though my friend has one and has to keep explaining that it’s or-e-li-a not or-ee-li-a. Well his Aurelia is anyway.

I know an Aura, only one I've ever met, though pronounced ow-ra rather than aura like the migraine thing.

I love Aurora and Aurelia. Aura would have me wondering if you are into crystal healing, psychics and other assorted paranormal interests.
