How would you pronounce this?

I think it sounds lovely as 'ah-ree-el'
But I don't like Ariel. (Air-ree-el) Would you pronounce them differently?

I think you will get Air ree el pronunciations but then you can correct so people learn. Indont think it will be too much

Personally I'd say Ah ree elle

EnormousStuffedMarrow · 11/12/2022 09:01

I'd say ah-riel and I like it.

Agree with you all. Ah-ree-el. But I wonder if both names might see a rise in popularity next year? Not necessarily a bad thing just something to bear in mind.

FlamingoBabe · 11/12/2022 09:06

Ah-ree-el like the radio 1 DJ

Tripsabroad · 11/12/2022 09:06

I would pronounce it as Ah-ree-ELLE.

I would pronounce Ariel like a TV aerial but Sebastian does say Ah-ree-elle in the cartoon so wouldn't be surprised to hear it either way.

Pemba · 11/12/2022 12:04

For Arielle I would have thought arry-ell (beginning with a short a as in apple, not an 'ah' sound).

Whereas Ariel I would say air-ee-ell as in The Little Mermaid.

Ariela · 11/12/2022 13:15

I'd say Ah-re-elle as Ariela is Ah-re-ella

fairycupcakes · 11/12/2022 13:18

Ah ree el = Arielle
Air ree el = Ariel

FearofQueefing · 11/12/2022 17:59

My friend has an Arielle. She pronounces it. Ari-elle

christmasmeltdown · 11/12/2022 18:00

Ari-Elle. The same way Sebastian pronounces Ariel in the little mermaid 😊

Purpleavocado · 11/12/2022 18:01

Lovely name, also Ariella

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/12/2022 19:48

Although not everyone will

It’s nice
