Radha (Irish name) pronunciation

I’m wondering if anyone knows an Irish name Radha? I’ve seen two ways to say it online row+a and rye+a.

For me that's an Indian name and I'd pronounce it very phonetically with a soft 'h'.

Don't know the Irish pronunciation but in Arabic both of the A sounds are emphasised Ràhdà.
It is also a Hindu name.

I’d go Rye-a based on Sadhbh being pronounced Syve. Not a name I’ve ever heard- what’s it’s provenance?

I know a Rada. She's Polish. It's said Rah-da.

Pronounced ry-ah, meaning vision.

It’s only ‘Irish’ if you believe those nonsensical baby names websites. Which I wouldn’t. If it were Irish, and were pronounced according to standard Irish phonetics, it would be ‘RYE- uh’. ‘Radharc’ (RYE-urc) is Irish for vision/sight.

The only Radhas I know are Indian or of Indian descent.

If I saw it written down I'd say Raah-da. I'd presume it was Indian rather than Irish.

If you live in Ireland, people will roll their eyes as it really isn't a known name, if you live elsewhere people will mispronounce it constantly and Irish people living internationally will internally laugh/despair at yet another misappropriation of Irish culture.

Sorry OP but that is not an Irish name - I imagine you’ve found it on an American baby name site? One of your suggested pronunciations is very close to the Irish word for fat as well.

It looks to me like an Indian name, pronounced Raa-da which is still very unusual and a lovely sound.

If you are set on an Irish name there are plenty with unusual spellings and clear meanings though if you are in a non irish speaking country, you are giving your child years of having to spell and explain their name and being told they are wrong.

It's not an Irish name. Born and raised in ireland and I've never known anyone called that. I thought it was Indian? It's in the song My Sweet Lord anyway lol

Also if you're not irish, don't give your child an Irish name spelled in the traditional way. Coming from a person with an Irish name living in the US, I hear multiple versions of my name per day and it's not even that unusual as names go, but impossible for people unfamiliar with it to pronounce

Thank god I'm not the only Irish person who has never heard of it as an Irish name.

That's "Radharc" pronounced rye-arc

I'm Irish and I've never come across that name. To me it sounds like a name of Asian decent. If it were Irish, as in from the Irish language, it would be pronounced RYE-ah

I have an Irish friend called Radha, she pronounces it Raw_a. She say it herself it is not a popular name and wish her parents have chosen a less obscure Irish name
