Posting on behalf of a friend as I am categorically not pregnant or thinking of having kids any time soon! Thoughts on the names Isaac/Maria?

but Isaac gets written as Issac more often than you'd expect. Maria seems slighty mediterranean/latin american/RC, but most of the ones i know are not.

They're an Italian family, not that it makes a difference! But yes with Maria I think West Side story which I love.

They're not looking specifically for Italian names.

No, I know that, but if they like the pronunciation I like, where they live will make a difference. They probably don't though.

When they've mentioned it to me they've pronounced it eye-zak which I like :)

Maria is my favourite girls name of all time. It's beautiful. Isaac is also a gorgeous name.

I have an Isaac, other than sometimes having to correct the spelling there's been no issues. Maria is nice but personally reminds me of an older person. However classic names are becoming more popular and she could be ari or aria if she didn't like it too.
Both names would be fine either way I would say
