For DC1 he would be known as Frank day to day, it would take a lot to change our mind but what are your thoughts on this name?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Love it.
Two in my extended family.
Also love the female equivalent.

evenprimrose · 07/12/2022 15:28

I love it. I'm less keen on Frank but good to have the option I suppose.

maddy68 · 07/12/2022 15:28

I love it

Mamette · 07/12/2022 15:28

Love Francis ❤️

I quite like it. You might get a lot of assumptions made about you being a very Catholic family. But you may be very Catholic and welcome that! Grin

watcherintherye · 07/12/2022 15:29

Great fan of Francis/Frances!

Twizbe · 07/12/2022 15:30

Great name. It's a family name. Several generations of if it in my family. Both Francis and Frances

ofwarren · 07/12/2022 15:30

Really dislike it unfortunately
It's a soppy, wet, weak sounding name in my opinion.
The nickname Frank makes me think of the 80s. Frank Bruno, Frank Butcher.
Sorry 😞

emmathedilemma · 07/12/2022 15:42

I don't understand the love for it on here at all. It's a name that belongs to an old catholic priest in my opinion!

pancakestastelikecrepe · 07/12/2022 15:46

I have a soon to be 20 year old Francis, known as Frank now, Frankie as a child. He loves his name as he never encountered anyone else with his name throughout his school years. As for Catholic connotations, it's never come up...

FirstFallopians · 07/12/2022 15:47

It was my ex’s name- we’d be millennials, so v uncommon within our age bracket. I called him Fran, but otherwise he was always Francis or Fra.

He never got teased for it at school apparently.

I love it- he was a good guy so I have a real soft spot for the name!

SirenSays · 07/12/2022 15:48

Love the name Francis. Frank makes me think of Frank Gallagher

ShesThunderstorms · 07/12/2022 15:50

If he'll be called Frank, why don't you just call him Frank? It's a much nicer name than Francis imo.

chercez · 07/12/2022 15:52

I like Frank but really dislike Francis/Frances. Sorry if I sound horrible.

90% of the time I call my son Nugget but I wasn't going to put that on his birth certificate 😂

Coxspurplepippin · 07/12/2022 15:53

Nice name OP.

Spanielsarepainless · 07/12/2022 15:53

I love it. In various forms it's a family name.

SummaLuvin · 07/12/2022 16:04

I quite like it. I prefer the elegant simplicity of Frank.

MontanaRivers · 07/12/2022 16:06

I like it, have you considered Franklin? I know an old man with this name, he’s lovely.

AllPlayedOut · 07/12/2022 16:09

Francis is awful. Wet, dull and unattractive.

Frank is even worse. It has such a harsh and ugly sound. I can't imagine looking at a lovely newborn and wanting to call him such a hideous name as Frank.

RuthW · 07/12/2022 16:30

Lovely

mathanxiety · 07/12/2022 16:36

Gorgeous name and the nickname is great.
Frankie is nice too for a baby and toddler.

Choconut · 07/12/2022 16:36

I hate Francis, it just makes me think of a wet lettuce or fop. It's ok for a girl, awful for a boy. I think Franklin is much better if you like the nn Frank.

nomorespaghetti · 07/12/2022 16:47

Love it, have one!

FearofQueefing · 07/12/2022 16:51

The only one I've ever met is absolutely lovely, so nothing but positive associations for me. Smile
