I love Rue (pronounced the French way) but can't come up with any longer proper names this could work as a nn for.

Help?

How would the French pronounce it?

Rue is also called the Herb of Grace, @nocoolnamesleft.

"we may call it herb of grace o’ Sundays"

Not sure Hamlet's Ophelia is a great examplar for happy names.

thentheycameforme · 04/12/2022 19:17

Ruby is the only female name I can think of, Rudi or Rupert for male versions

Junobug · 04/12/2022 19:20

Why can't you just use Rue/Roux?

MerryChristmasToYou · 04/12/2022 19:30

We have a Rosie who was Rosie Roo as a baby and then Roo Roo for a while. Weirdly this turned into Rosie Rhubarb or just Rhubarb. She prefers Rosie these days.

SagittariusDwarf · 04/12/2022 19:35

What's the French pronunciation? Same as the English but with a French-style R?

FloresApparuerunt · 04/12/2022 19:38

Prudence?

As a Rhiannon, I have to say that I would never imagine that 'Rue' would refer to me. I'm usually a Rhi, if anything.

Do you need a longer name? Rue buy itself would be fine.

Regarding pronunciation the French way, do you mean you’re going to roll your Rs?!

Catsonskis · 04/12/2022 20:04

I know a Ruelle, I think she’s 12 now. Her mum loved Rue but wanted a longer name. She is only ever Ruelle

BiscuitLover3678 · 04/12/2022 20:09

Rumi

Please no one call your child Roux. It's a base for a sauce, not a name.

Cas112 · 04/12/2022 20:32

I love Rue, just go with Rue

LindorDoubleChoc · 04/12/2022 20:35

I don't know what the French pronunciation of Rue is.

Rue in English means regret - so not a great choice for a child growing up in the UK.
