Sister for Aurora?

emerierose · 03/12/2022 05:07

We have a dd Aurora and now are due a new baby girl in February. I am having such a hard time picking a name this time around. I'm not sure what really matches the feel of Aurora.

Some on our list are
Elara
Luna
Violet
Aster or Astri

What are your suggestions?

I really like Violet with Aurora. Luna is commonly used as a pet name at the moment, my cat is called Luna and I know several people with dogs called it.
I think the other names clash with Aurora as they are too similar. All lovely though!

Luna.

Bonitalazenia · 03/12/2022 05:30

My friend has Aurora, Arcadia and Astrid. I always think they sound like a fleet of cruise ships..

lifeinthehills · 03/12/2022 05:32

I like Isabella with Aurora, even though that's not on your list.

I love Aurora (but had boys).

Aster or Astrid would be my favourite. Or even Stella.

Luna and Astri with Aurora give me space vibes, feels a bit themey

I know an India and Aurora pair and think they balance well

If the names on your list, Violet definitely goes best. I’d avoid Elara as it doesn’t quite flow with Aurora.

The Aurora I know has a sister Hermione.

How about:

Seraphina
Lucinda
Gabriella
Rosalie

RoseMartha · 03/12/2022 08:08

The first name that came to mind was Astrid.

Or
Adrianna
Skye
Penelope

I really like Violet from your list.

saltofcelery · 03/12/2022 09:29

Personal choice but I would rule out all names that also end with "A". Of your list that would leave Violet. It is totally your decision though, happy picking!

fairycupcakes · 03/12/2022 10:02

@emerierose the Aurora I know of has a sister called Sapphire if that helps at all?

Elara - too similar sounding with Aurora

Luna - As many a pp have mentioned it’s used a lot for pets

Violet - I know it’s popular on here but I’m just not keen and I don’t feel it’s the same kind of name as Aurora but that might just be a preference etc!

Aster or Astri - I think Astrid is beautiful but I just don’t like the ‘ass’ sound in either of the 3 names so I’d never use it because kids can be cruel.
