I like the name and feel it's getting slightly less popular..

I love it. My friends DS is Connor. He is a young adult and a handsome rogue (in a nice way). I only have good associations with it.

girlmom21 · 01/12/2022 18:33

I think it's fine. Just fine.

strawberry2017 · 01/12/2022 18:38

Lovely x

offyoufuckcuntychops · 01/12/2022 18:38

Not my cup of tea.

Sayhellotothesunn · 01/12/2022 18:39

Nicer with one n - Conor

KirstenBlest · 01/12/2022 19:12

Better with one n.
Connor and Conor were very popular 25 years ago.
It's a nice name but it does seem to say 'man in his early 20s'

Luredbyapomegranate · 01/12/2022 19:21

I think it’s slightly thuggish, like Tyler etc

SummaLuvin · 01/12/2022 19:21

DarkGreener definitely shows it trending down to a plateau. It probably is somewhat dated to babies born 20-30 years ago, but I still like it, it's quite nice, simple, and under used. Probably helps that every Connor I have met has been thoroughly lovely. I prefer Connor spelling, I always think that (unless there are personal/cultural reasons otherwise) it is best to use the most common spelling.

CloudyDreamerZZZ · 01/12/2022 19:27

Love it!

My mum wanted me to call my son Connor too.

Firebird83 · 01/12/2022 20:06

I know a baby Connor. I prefer the Conor spelling.

ShillyShallySherbet · 01/12/2022 20:08

It’s nice, definitely nicer spelt Connor. Conor I’d pronouncer to rhyme with donor.

carefulcalculator · 01/12/2022 20:09

I like it, either spelling is fine.

mum2jakie · 01/12/2022 20:10

I think it'll seem dated as it was very popular twenty years ago. Name trends come and go quickly.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 01/12/2022 20:10

Love it, we almost used it for DS2!

Berlinlover · 01/12/2022 20:12

It’s very popular here in Ireland, not my cup of tea though.

How are the names Connor and Tyler ‘thuggish?’ Do they have meanings associated with violence? Or do you associate the names with a well known ‘thuggish’ character? I’m curious as to how having a well used name is ‘thuggish.’ Is Tyler Perry a ‘thug?’ Is Tyler Posey? Will the new Teen Wolf movie (featuring TWO Tylers) be immediately banned for encouraging thuggish behaviour?

Connor is a nice name. Pleasant sounding, easy to spell, well know without being overused.

fifteenohfour · 01/12/2022 20:16

Connor is 100% a naughty boy chav name (my opinion based on where I live)

IsThePopeCatholic · 01/12/2022 20:18

I don’t like it at all.

DollyDoofer · 01/12/2022 20:18

When my dd (now 22) started school, there were 7 Connor/Connar/ Conor/ Connaugh/ in her class. It’s not a popular name now so if you like it go for it.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 01/12/2022 20:22

Spell it Conor rather than Connor.

Conor is a safe and classic name in Ireland.

Of course it's a thuggish name in the UK <yawn>

Mummyboy1 · 01/12/2022 20:24

My 11 month old is called Connor! I much prefer the spelling with two n's. Everyone who writes it down always put the two n's.

Classist snobby nonsense with a nasty little anti-Irish twist. Kian/Cian, Connor, Liam, Aidan… funny that all these names repeatedly called ‘chavvy/naughty boy’ are just ‘not traditional English names.’

There are no ‘naughty boy chav names.’ Unless of course you’ve met every Connor in the world and examined their behaviour and found that each and every one is naughty. There are loads of naughty Williams and Georges, and loads of lovely Connors and Tylers. Almost as if the name of a child has nothing to do with anything.

LeeLou456 · 01/12/2022 20:33

My 6 month is old is called Connor ❤️

fifteenohfour · 01/12/2022 20:34

@Kanaloa it's my opinion. And I'm working class so yeah classist I guess. Every Connor in my estate (there are a few) are little rats destined for prison. She asked for opinions and that's mine. Nice try with the anti-Irish twist though..creative.

Not really. It is based on a subtle thread of nastiness towards anything not ‘traditionally’ English. And being working class doesn’t mean you can’t hold classist and snobby views.

But good to know you’ve reviewed all the Connors on your estate and used that huge sample size to decide Connor is an awful ‘naughty boy’ name which will land a child in prison immediately. Funny that no children named Thomas or James on your estate are naughty.
